We've got about fifty stray cats roaming the neighborhood. Some of them have Ringworm. Is there anything that will kill that stuff permanently? My two cats go outside but they're old, lazy and fixed so they only go out the back door, sniff and go back inside. Twice now I've had to treat them both for Ringworm and I've NEVER had that problem. I bleached and scrubbed everything last time one of my cats got it. It just keeps coming back. How can I stop it? Two bouts with Ringworm have cost me $300.00 in vet bills and medication. Please tell me there is an easier way. Cat dipping is no small task and I almost needed a vet myself to stitch me up!

My cat just recently has started coming into my room everyday at 9:00 AM exactly. when he does that he screams at the top of his lungs and slaps at the mirror. most of the time i ignore him when he does that but then he starts to run around and clawing the floor. basically making as much noice as possible. when i kick him out of the room after that he will sit by the door digging at it and meowing loudly for about 20 mins. he is a deaf cat and nothing affects him. is there anything i can do to get him to stop doing this. he always has plently of food and water and my boyfriend normally stays up till 7 in the morning so i know he ain;t lonely.

I have a 1.5 yo Bloodhound. Two weeks ago he started to itch like crazy and lick himself everywhere. I gave him a bath with medical shampoo. I also applied advantix on him. He didnt get better, so I took him to the vet. The doctor gave him a short and also gave some fleas control pills. It did help, but in 4 days he started to itch as much as he did before. He aslo has sores everywhere on his body.I talked to the vet again, they dont really know what to do,suggested to get another short, but if it didnt help the first time I dont see the point to do it again. My dog eats Purina Food,I wouldnt think its a food allergy because he's been on this food for a year.Doctor said it might be fleas allergie, but he doesnt have any fleas. I applied Advantix again but it didnt help.I dont really know what to do...I just cannot see my dog suffers like he is.If he continues scratching himself soon he want have any hair. Can anybody help?May be someone has the same problem and know how to treat it?

I am really considering buying a sun conure, I never even knew that they existed until I saw one at the pet store about 3 months ago. It was the sweetest bird I have ever met, it was really young, but had no fear and actually would approach everyone that came up to its cage and beg them to hold him. Then about 2 weeks ago I saw another one at a different pet store and it was just as sweet. Is this the norm for the sun conure? I dont know much about buying birds, all my knowlege is in dogs. I know to never buy a dog from a pet store, is it the same with birds? Also, the ones at the pet store cost between $500-$750 and I have noticed people selling baby ones in the newspaper for $200, what should I look for when buying from a private citizen. Any info would be appreciated, I am relatively new to the "bird world"

LOL! Didn't I open a can of worms. The reason I ask is because of all the starving horses that I see now that all the slaughter houses are closed. Does any one know what PETA has planned for all those starving horses? Do they just go look at a field of starving horses and say "At least they aren't dying a quick death in a slaughter plant, now they can starve here in this field, nice and safe." Now how humane is that...if I had a choice, I would choose that trip to Mexico right about now. But some PETA are talking about trying to stop that from happening too. Do these people even have part of a plan on what to do with all these horses they are supposably saving?

Thank goodness I have a thick skin, cause I know I am going to hear it on this one. But I will only be happy to see what everyone thinks. Maybe in all the mayhem, there is a solution?

I know its probably a stupid question but if it is possible then I want it done. My boys are two of the most friendliest rats but even just playing with them and I get all scratched up and they don't mean to. Plus batheing them because a even harder task and being boys they need their baths.

OK, my sister has a betta in a 2 gallon tank. I noticed over the last few days her betta wasn't acting like himself and he kind of just layed on the bottom. Today I noticed alot of food in the gravel, and I think when she fed him he must have not eaten it. The tank was gross, so I took the chore apon myself to clean it. I can't stand a fish suffering like that! When I was cleaning it, I moved the betta into a large fish bowl with the same water from his tank. He just seems to lay on the bottom, sometimes he lays kinda on his side. He is moving his gills alot, and every few minutes he comes up for air. But I noticed when you look at him from above, his scales seem to stick out a little too.

After begging, she FINALLY agreed he was sick, and she gave him to me! I am so excited! He is red and pink, and his name is Crystal Light =). Anyway, I was wondering what disease he has? The only medicine I have that I think might work is MelaFix? Should I use this? Thanks!

I have a 3 yr old full grown female long hrd. cat. She use to live alone, so i got a male kitten in hopes to provide her w company. At first it tookawhile forher to except it, but she soon ended up liking the kitten, took him under her wing, and so on........ 2 weeks ago I had him neutered and brought him home that same day. She flipped out. She absolutely hates him and me now. Anytime he comes near, trys to eat, or even comes close to me she hisses, trys to bite.....she is seriously outta control!!! My roommate and I tryed the water bottle thing and the whole dominance thing where u lay themon there sides face to face till they calm down....we're gettin no where with that. So now, she's in the taxi carrier when she des it cuz we have no idea what to do, and we feel bad for being the ones that are having to do this. Especially bc the whole perpose was to get her a friend so she wouldn'tbe all depressed all the time anymore. gettin rid of the kitten is not an issue at this point.. HELP

Well I've had my Mali Uro for about 4 weeks now. For now she is in a 10 gal tank with paper towel for bedding, a hide box, and slate for basking. For lighting a 100 watt household bulb + a UVB bulb. She has a good diet and is eating pretty well. But when she breathsshe seems to make a little snap, crackle, pop noise. I called the vet today (their about 79 miles away) They said about $49 for the check up and about $29 for medicine and my mom just isn't really going for it. Is there any thing I can do to in hopes she might kick it on her own???

Thank you everyone, PLEASE HELP! 10 *stars!*

I have had a few new fish die with no signs of illness.(guppies) And all my water tests are within the normal ranges. (ph,ammonia, nitrite, nitrate all okay) Also there are no aggressive fish in the tank. The temp is good and the filter works fine and the tap water was dechlorinated with stresscoat during water changes every week.

My dog got fleas. I am flea dipping her and bombing the house tomorrow. Someone told me that I need to do something to the back yard too, so she wont bring them back in the house? Anyone know what/how?
Also, do I dip the dog or bomb the house first? I've never had fleas before, so its grossing me out and I dont know a whole lot about how to fix it! Help!
And, FYI, I did just notice them yesterday and the vet gave me the Advantix today, so we can prevent future flea problems. thank you!

Would they be able to be housed together? I have a docile baby sulcata, and would like to get an adult three toed box turtle. I was wondering if for the time being I could house them together, buying the turtle and a new mercury vapor, then waiting until my next check to buy a new (is the 100 gallon the enormous tank?) for the three-toed. I wasn't sure if the three-toed would attack the sulcata...I know I wouldn't reccomend two different species housing together, but I was wondering if just for the time being (a week or two) if they could survive. Thanks!

Well i got a labrador retriever/Border collie mix July of 2006 and she was 6 years old. Well we tie her out on a leash for about 15 minutes about 4-5 times a day(the leash isabout 12 feet long) , well she pee's and poops all over my dining room floor atleast 4 times everyday. i will be completely honest i don't take her for walks and she has gone on a long walk in 3-4 months ( i feel horrible about it). My questions are if i take her for walk(s) will she stop peeing and pooping on my dining room floor if not how do i house train her? how long should her walk(s) last? and how many walks a day should i give her?

Please don't tell me to get rid of the dog, im ready to do whatever it takes to take care of this dog, my house is very big (7 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,a large fenced in backyard, dining room, kitchen, living room) so it's not like she didnt get any exercise. she's very hyper. if you can't help me with my questions please don't answer.

oh and she's 52 pounds.

My dog sits in my lap. Sometime she will turn towards me and sit up on her butt and put her paws on my shoulder and stares at me. Sometimes she takes her paw and tries to touch my face. What do you think she is trying to say?
