they can leave momma at four weeks, but it's best to wait until five. If you are not exactly sure on the time, remove those boys at what you think is four weeks to prevent accidental pregnancies. Rats can start reproducing at five weeks old.
This is not a date you want to stretch..five weeks - males away from females.

I personally hate to give any baby animal to a new home sooner than 8 weeks. I don't know why, but I personally feel that that time is best. I got a rat when she was four weeks old and she was tiny! So I would say that the soonest would be 5-6 weeks old.

Boys should be seperated from their moms and sisters at 4/5 weeks but still kept with you til around the 6/8 week mark
The girls can stay with mom til time to go
Well done you for keeping one female to stay with the mom, shell love having the company, rats are social creatures and its truly cruel to keep one on its own, it would be like you be alone for the rest of your life, especially babies.
Is it not possible to keep all the girls together forever? great for the two babies to have someone their own age to play with when moms tired, great to keep the family together too. Then you could home the male in with peter, your male, his dad.
The older male WILL NOT kill the baby he will be grateful for some company. Especially as HE MUST NOT EVER be put back with kittie [ unless your gonna neuter him] as you will have more and more babies.
youre so lucky only to have had 3 this time, rats can have upto 20 and the females are able to get pregnant again AS SOON as she has finished giving birth. SO if peter was with her after she gave birth [i think i read ina previous question that he was] she could already be pregnant, so watch for MORE babies when these are around 3 weeks old = -(

Five weeks, but have the boy seperated from the girlies by 4 1/2, as they are sexually mature by 5 weeks! Congratulations on your babies!

Between 4-5 weeks. The boy should definately be separate from the girls by 5 weeks. The girl you're keeping can stay with mama rat.
Awww, I bet they're so cute! I love watching little ones grow.

From what I remember about taking care of my own baby rats, I waited until they were able to eat by themselves and running around the cage, playing and stuff like that.

i've got in no way had any puppy rats, yet perhaps there's a situation with the two your lady rat's ovaries or your male rat's sperm. otherwise there could have been a situation with the start.

I would wait till they are 3-4 weeks old. They should be eating solid food by then. :-)
