I would definitely be concerned and take him to the vet immediately. It could be an ulcer on his eyes. This is very serious since it will damage the cornea and can result in loss of an eye. It could also be an eye infection. Try taking you cat's temperature. The normal rectal temperature of a cat is 100° to 102.5°F. And yes, it could also be from something unrelated to the eyes like an abscess or other infection or even worms and this movement of the third eyelid is signalling the problem.

Observe your cat closely and check his mouth and body for anything unusual.
--I'm dealing with the same problem in my 4 month old kitten. The vet gave me a Terramycin antibiotic ointment for his eyes. This is for eye infection. Unfortunately it didn't help and the vet is telling me that he is perfectly healthy and they can't find anything wrong.

This can happen with eye irritation-like allergies-or anytime a cat isn't feeling well. If a cat has a fever, and it would with an abscess, the third eyelids are usually up. Check him for swellings and sore spots, cats can hide abscesses really well-until they burst open, anyway.

Yes, that is their thrid eyelid and it could be infected due to cat flu or something else...sounds like a trip to the vet is in order to rule anything serious out.

This is a sign that a cat is feeling very unwell - cats are usually very good at hiding illnesses (It help them survive in the wild) so the fact that he is showing signs means it is serious.
The fact that it has been going on for days is a clear sign that you need to take him to the vet. Waiting could be dangerous to his health and your wallet

A vet once told me that anything that has to do with the eyes should be looked at by a vet ASAP as it could damage their sight or cause blindness if left too long.

That happened to my cat when he had a urinary blockage.
Best to have a vet check the cat out. It can be a sign of illness.

Although Iam not an expert on cats, I think that there is something wrong. Just call the vet and ask.
