I have a rat that gave my husbands snake a rude awakening when he tried to eat him. It ended up with the snake and rat sharing living space....i have grown attached to it,named it,and I want him/her to live with us as a pet. i've never had a hamster or anything like that. Is it possible to have a rat for a pet?

My previous question was about how worms spread to humans and now my puppy doesn't poop any more worms out. It was like she pooped them out fora day and now her stool is normal looking. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow to get her checked out. And another thing too from the previous question I posted is that she doesn't seem to have any fleas at all. I've looked through her fur and she hardly ever scratches. Anyways, any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Maggie just had her dewclaws removed. She wears a cone, but can just lick the ends of her bandages, and we're worried she'll manage to pull the bandages off.. her incision isn't healing very quickly so she has to leave them on for a couple days...

I have a 80 lb pitt bull who absolutely freaks when she see the nail clipper. At the vet she has to be sedated. Does anyone know if buying the Oster nail grinder would be a worthwhile investment? Are they very noisy? Do they work on big dogs? Any ideas/thoughts are appreciated!

I have the best dog in the world! :) I rescued him 3 years ago from a downtown parking lot. He was full grown at the time (about 4 years old.) He is a lab/catahoula mix. He has been a blessing to our household. He is smart, obedient, protective, loving, and calm. He gets along well with all 4 of our cats! My husband walks him every night. Last night, they went out for a walk and Astro stopped by the light post to sniff, after which he put his tail down between his legs and was uncooperative during the rest of the walk. My husband had to cut the walk short because Astro was just not right. When they got home, Astro was panting, pacing, staring "into space" and growling at every noise. He continues his odd behavior today. He is barking and growling at every noise and he's not very relaxed in general. What could have caused this sudden onset of anxious behavior? He is so smart that I know this is his way of saying there is something wrong, but what? How do I get him through this? Thanks!

We live in WV and my kids love feeding the birds in the winter ,we put up bird feeders every year should you leave these up all year and feed them all year or only through the cold months

My cold water fish has developed what appears to be a mass of cotton wool on its tail and is struggling to swim. Her appetite is uneffected, but she has gone a shade of white.
I am heading to the pet shop late tommorrow but I'm hoping someone could give me an idea what it is

I'm having a common sense problem with my significant other.

We brought our lab cross dog to the cottage this weekend. She had just got a bath last week because we had been at the cottage last weekend as well, and she had got very dirty. She gets a lot of sand in her coat and just itches almost constantly.

After this weekend at the cottage, she is itching very badly and I told my S.O she needs a bath. He is going into a fit saying he has done research that says you cant bathe a dog that often, yada yada.

First of all, labs are notorious for itchy skin. Second of all, the dog is dirty, she needs a flippin bath.

AM I WRONG? Should we let her itch and scratch like a maniac because she's already had two baths this month? Will giving her another bath to clean off the sand and crap really make her worse in the long run!!?

Seriously, this seems really common sense to me, but does anyone have any info that I can show my S.O so he can stop arguing with me.

Had mine about a year now, he's perfectly healthy but i know your supposed to take them in for a yearly checkup & booster shots. I'm also wondering how important the booster shots are, i have heard they can make cats sick if they really don't need them. if he does HAVE to have shots, is just distemper enough? he is a strictly indoor only cat. also i know they do low-cost vaccinations at Petco, if i take him there do the vets give them a checkup too? I'm in Michigan BTW. thanks

Hi, I have an 11 week old Australian Shepherd and awhile back I registered him in a puppy training class, but since then he has become really well trained. The class teaches the basics, and he basically has everything covered. He is potty trained, he is leash trained, he sits and lays down on command, and he used to bite ALOT, and that has since then improved a lot. We work with him a lot, and are active with him as well, I was just curious if you think he still should go to the class?

NOTE: We also take him to a puppy play class once a week where he interacts with other puppies.

My cat is strictly an indoor cat and I currently give her frontline flea medicine. my neighbor has two dogs that are outside much of the time. She's been getting lots of fleas that jump on her and die. I never find any that are alive but the flea dirt builds up very quickly and I think it may be upsetting her tummy. Anybody else have this issue and dealt with it before?

Everytime I go to the vet, I ask to see the kitties. They have a kill shelter and even though I am full (5 cats) I always go back to see. I also always end up sad. Today there was Mom and 4-2 day old babies set to be put down tomorrow. I know they have to do it but it's so sad. I wish I could help but I'm too full to even foster. Can it be said enough to spay your pets?
