Overheating is often a reason for the computer rebooting. Try changing the fan/fans. They only cost a few bucks and it may solve your problem. This sorted mine out when I had the same issues.

I agree, McAffe is not reliable at all, there are other better antiviruses, try to get AVG Antivirus, Avast 4.7 for Home Edition, or NOD32 for a 25 day trial it will clean up your computer. Try to get an antispyware form http://www.paretologic.com/, it's the Xofstpy SE, completely free, you have to register to get a one year free license no charge at all.
There's another possibility, maybe your RAM memory is damaged, then you should replace it, they are not expensive I think. Or maybe it's full, get a free Memory cleaner from the next link, it really works http://www.download-free.programas-gratis.net/php/software.php?id_programa=3305&download-Bysoft-FreeRAM-4.0First of all try to check your drives, go to My Computer > Right Click on your Hard drive > Properties > Go to the Tools tab and then run the Error Checking and the Disk Defragmenter.
Finally, you're not the one with ca$h problems, so I will recommend you a website where you can find good and free software to help you, there are many categories depending of the type you want. Go to http://www.10001downloads.com/ That's all I can do for you, I really hope you solve your problem. I will try to read some manuals and find other possibilities, I'll be in contact, but you should enable the e-mail option here in Yahoo! Answers.
Good Luck.

Exactly what happens to your computer? Does it freeze up, work really slow, show the "blue screen" of death?

I will assume that you have a Windows based computer and that there are still viruses, bugs and what not crawling around inside. I have a mac, but I take care of my parents' windows based computer. Whenever it has issues running, there is usually a virus/ ad ware. This means some one is using your computer's internet connection or hard drive. It can be tricky to find these boogers, but I have 3 different virus scanners/checkers/blockers and they usually work okay. AVG works the best at finding them the second they hit your computer. If you want a copy, I can email you a file. I can have one more computer on the registration number.

That's all I can tell you with the information you've provided. Reply to this message if you'd like to take me up on the offer.

I can help you from Seattle. You need to get NEW 'RAM chips' ... your computer isn't 'reading' the ones you have properly, and that is why it keeps 'rebooting' ... you may need to take it to a good computer store, but possibly there is someone in your area who had transportation and knows how to 'identify' and upgrade your RAM chips ... but THAT is where your 'problem is' ... you don't have enough 'memory' for your programs to 'load up' when you want to 'start the computer' so it keeps trying to 'reboot.' It's an 'annoying problem' but it's really very simple ... you should be able to get enough RAM for around $100, and someone may 'donate' it to you in thanks for your being 'a good vet' while you were working ... I'm not a vet ... just an 'animal lover' who is married to a computer professional.

spybot
download it and check for a kakworm or other worm

Are you running xp? Try dowloading the update.

My final suggestion-- don't put in a new fan. First try opening the case and seeing if you can run it that way. That will tell you if it is a cooling issue before you go through the cost of a new fan.

Try posting this in the Computer section of Yahoo Answers.

Are you a vet as in veteran or a vet as in veterinarian?

ADD:

Under the Computers and Internet category, I think your question might do best in Security (for computer security, viruses, etc. -- lots of computer geeks there = ] )

Under the Politics and Government category, there is a Military subsection and you will likely find veterans there.

Good luck!

I know you are in the wrong section, but I starred it. I think I may have a contact or two who might be able to help...not promising anything.
(The reason your question ended up in this section is because you used the word 'Vet', you should have typed Veteran.)
Post it again and look for the section, don't let Yahoo post it for you.
Select 'Computers and Internet' and the subsection 'Others-Computers.'

How is your computer now working, but you're online?

If your data was completely wiped out, you'll need a specialist to try to retrieve it, but it's not cheap and hate to say it, but I doubt anyone would be willing to do it for free.

Just to be safe...try posting an ad on craigslist.

Also did you install new software recently? If you did, then it may be incompatible, uninstall it.
