Dont worry it is totally normal. I worked in a pet store and the puppies ate their poop every day all day. It's gross for us but wont hurt them unless it is another dogs poop they are eating and that other dog has something like worms. See they smell nutrients they have not yet digested in the poop and thats why they eat it. People think it is bad for the dog but in reality it is only bad for the people who think it's gross.

Though it is gross yes! It is normal. I have had allot of expierence in puppies and yes they will occasionally eat thier own poo. What you need to do it make it clear to him that it is not ok! If you see him do it again, grab him and say in a stern voice NO and maybe a little swatt on the bottom and a time out too will get it into his head. Pick a place in you house or outside that you think is the best place for him to take time out and stick with that place!!!! He WILL do it again. But if you keep saying no putting him in time out and swatting him, he will learn. He won't do it becasue he does not want to get swatted and put into time out. so whenever he does anything abd he d\should be placed in the same time out. He will learn that is where he goes. I hope this helps.

Sometimes it means they're not getting the right nutrition in their diet. You can talk to a vet to see if he is getting the right amount of protein, vitamins, etc. There are products they sell that you put in the puppies food that make the poop taste bad so that they won't eat it.

Some dogs and puppies do this. Just clean up the poop as soon as the puppy 'goes'.

Add tomato paste to his food and that should stop the problem! He is eating it most likely because of a lack of nutrients in his own diet, but the tomato paste will deter him from doing it any more. Hope it helps!

My dog did too! I found this is true for purebreds. I went down to the pet store and bought Deeter! This makes the poo taste bad, not like it already doesn't. It takes some time to work but it worked for us. We bought ours at Soldan's, but i'm sure you can buy it at Petsmart, or other pet chains. Good Luck!

Pretty normal for dogs actually. Like the other person said, just try to clean it up before he gets into it.
