I have the best dog in the world! :) I rescued him 3 years ago from a downtown parking lot. He was full grown at the time (about 4 years old.) He is a lab/catahoula mix. He has been a blessing to our household. He is smart, obedient, protective, loving, and calm. He gets along well with all 4 of our cats! My husband walks him every night. Last night, they went out for a walk and Astro stopped by the light post to sniff, after which he put his tail down between his legs and was uncooperative during the rest of the walk. My husband had to cut the walk short because Astro was just not right. When they got home, Astro was panting, pacing, staring "into space" and growling at every noise. He continues his odd behavior today. He is barking and growling at every noise and he's not very relaxed in general. What could have caused this sudden onset of anxious behavior? He is so smart that I know this is his way of saying there is something wrong, but what? How do I get him through this? Thanks!

Im sure it could be a few different things but my guess is he might have caught the scent of a local female who is in heat. When my male picked up the scent of a female in heat, his behavior was very similar to what you are describing. It lasted about a week.

I sincerely doubt that he inhaled anything that would cause that strange behavior. However, there are several possibilities that could cause your dog to be anxious. When you describe him as "staring into space"; do his eyes looked kind of glazed? I'm thinking some kind of internal problem; like maybe chewing a toy into pieces and/or eating clothing, blankets, etc. Many large, deep chested breeds, suffer from a propensity to "bloat" (after injesting something they shouldn't) and this can be deadly serious if left untreated. I would consult with my Vet asap....Good luck.

She would have a urinary tract contamination and no longer be capable to preserve it or she would be showing spay incontinence, in many instances hormonal and an estrogen shot can aid .. Maybe crate her for the night time or paintings together with her on a piddle pad if it's not a UTI. They have merchandise on the puppy retail outlets for urine odors -- one I consider is known as 'the miracle' or whatever and works beautiful good -- or if there's a puppy exhibit across the providers on the whole have well merchandise for the carpet. Usually should you see any form of colossal difference in a puppy it warrants a seek advice from to the vet as any quantity of matters would be taking place and there's no truly approach for any person on the web to be capable to grasp. Good success...

He could have inhaled a drug, poison, etc. You should take him to the vet (I know that isn't what you want to hear) ASAP - minutes may make the difference in saving his life!!!
