should i remove the gravel from my fishbowl if my fish is sick/dying...my fish is lying mostly on its side and getting up every now and then...i've heard there is beneficial bacteria in the gravel or something...could it be dying/sick because of the gravel?

I just got a black molly a couple weeks ago and she's been not as active since the day I bought her. A couple days ago I noticed white spots circling around both eyes, and what appears to be white flaky skin around her gills. I've read about the different diseases that these fish are prone to,but I can't seem to find the answer. I feed her the flakes and use the aquarium salt along with drops for the water. Can anybody help me?

my cat was discovered with fluid in his lungs. i was quoted $1800.00 just to figure out what was wrong with him. i want to know if there are any internal medical doctors out there in denver, colorado who can help me figure out what the problem with my cat is for cheap.

My cat honey gave birth to 3 kittens 7 days ago. THey have been in my closet from day one, but 2nite she moved them into the basement behind T.V. wall unit and its cold down there. I,ve been reading up on what people have said about mother moving her kittens,and understand its normal but I'm worried about them being in such a cold place.

Honey(our cat) used to sleep in basement with my older son's, until she had her kittens. The kittens are also crawling and I'm worried abt them being around the cords.

Is there anythg ishould watch for ???And should i move them, or will she move them on her owe??

We did put some sweaters there that she's had since the birth of her baby>>And yes its been washed....Any other suggestion would be most helpful..Thanks to all who help

I have an 8 month old black Miniature Schnauzer and she pulls so hard when I walk her that I don't want to walk her anymore. I've gotten her a headcollar and that seems to help but she doesn't like it and tries to paw it off. We will enroll both our dogs in obedience classes but because of vacation we are going to do it after. Any suggestions would be great!

I have 2 female sisters and a newcomer male. One of the females has befriended the male and they fight together against the bigger sister dog. When the mom was around, she was dominant over the other 3 dogs. She sadly passed and now the hierarchy has been broken, no dominance has been established. It used to be just the 2 sisters fighting, but now it is just disaster when they fight. It really scares the rest of my family and it has become almost impossible to break them up.

I would like to know how to show that I am dominant over all of them, or just some way to make it so one is dominant without anymore fighting.

Any other tips are very much welcome. Water does not break them up, neither does hitting on the butt area. I have to pull them apart myself, the dogs have never bit me while doing this.

I have a 1 year old golden retriever, just a few minutes ago he started hacking like something was caught in his throat. He ended up throwing up about 3 or 4 times. I know he doesn't have kennel cough either because he just recently had his bordatella (sp?) shot.

After he gets sick, he tries to eat things off of the floor.

It's 1:30 in the morning so I can't take him to the vet. PLEASE HELP!!!

I adotped a dog from a local shelter. She was rescued from an abusive home. She's great and what not but she doesn't like to play. AT ALL. We've given her a huge vareity of toys. but she won't touch them. She won't even play with me. She'll play fight with my other dog though. Does anyone have any tips..suggestions..answers..?

okay well my goldfish seem to be sick... i have 4 goldfish two of which appear to be fine. 1 of them has white dots (symptoms of ich) but also its tail is very red and it has bloodshot spots in its eyes and in various place on its body... any idea what could be wrong? one of the other fish had small black marking on two of its fins ever since i got in... i just assumed it was normal... but the black has been spreading to the other fins... i can find no refrence to what this might be online... any help? all the fish are small, young, fancy goldfish... any help would be appriciated

What do you suppose would happen to my glass fishtanks in the event of an earthquake say 7.0 on the rictor scale? (These are full of water and fish). What about a smaller earthquake? I imagine an acrylic tank would be ok. Maybe this is an advantage to acrylic? Has anyone had experiences with their fishtanks in an earthquake? Did your tank(s) hold up?

My glass ones are: one 55gal, one 38gal, one 45-50hex, and one 10gal if it makes a difference.

I also have 3 med/small acrylic tanks but I would think those would be ok, don't you?

Any imput is welcome.

(I'm curious on this matter and want to be prepared for the possible if not unlikely event of a natural disaster)

I have 6 small tiger barbs (2 green, 2 albino, and 2 regular) in a 10 gal. tank ( they're less than an inch long, but I know they'll get bigger, so I'm in the process of moving them into a 20 gal.). Once they're in the bigger tank I plan to get a couple of other fish. My choices right now are pictus catfish or bala sharks are these compatible with tiger barbs?

If not, what are some compatible fishes that I can add to the tank?

I just did my first water change for my fish tank (about 40% of the water), but now it seems my fishes are swimming REALLY active and almost seems like its saying "Save ME!"...it reallys wierd...but they are swimming very fast, much faster than normal and constantly moving around. Is something wrong?

Also, I have the fluids that kills chlroine in the water, and it says to use every water change. Do I need to take out my fishes before using it? If so, for how long? THANKS A LOT!!
