I got 2 convicts from my lfs almost a week ago. (m/f) the tank is beside my sofa where i sit and watch tv at night. The thing is they are aways hiding and dont even come out when i put food in, they wait till it floats near the cave run out and grab some and go back again. If they do come out as soon as i move they go back to hiding. Should i move my tank to somewhere i would bother them less. i got them to breed but the way they are acting i doubt this will happen. I have alot plants and hiding places in tank

I have 4 cats. They have access to food whenever they want, but 2 of them are overweight, so i want to schedule their feedings. But, the cats do different things during the day. Some sleep, some go outside, and I think it might be hard to get them all to eat at certain times of the day. And, how would I feed them? If I feed them all at the same time, some cats might want more and eat some of anothers cat's share of the food. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

My one cat got scared by a dog (a rottweiller), who jumped up at the window (the kids who did it though it was funny, but thats besides the point), she then attacked me (and drew blood in several places from my legs) and my other cat (who happens to be her mum), and now the other cat is absolutely terrified and refuses to come out. I've tried feeding her and stroking her, but she just shies away. This happened this morning. Any ideas on how I can calm her down? Her daughter is still trying to get into the window and is growling and hissing- any ideas with that one?

Sensible ideas would be most welcome.

I have a 20 gallon fish tank that right now has just 3 neon tetras in it as I wait for the tank to finish cycling. Getting to the end stages of that.
When I do my measurements for everything I always seem to have a very low alkalinity...is this important to fix?
I have been paying attention to the ammonia, nitrates, nitrites...but have not done anything about the alkalinity.
From the little bit I have read on the web it seems to be important for coral and such...but I will not have any coral in my tank so should I worry about it?

What is the difference between these two materials, except for the obvious (Amount, how big it is, wat it looks like, ETC).

Have been adopted recently by a cute black cat. Female (I think). Been living locally for a couple of years. Think spayed as have never seen any kittens. Has a few small scabs - one to the side of the bald patch. Not seen her scratching at it, or trying to lick it. Have used a spot on de-wormer and can't find any fleas. I know nothing about cats. No signs of skin complaints - just the odd little scab. Am assuming that as an outdoor cat, these are not unusual. Is it something to worry about?

There is a patch on my cat's back where the hair is kinda standing up and hard. It's also a bit bald. It's been there for a few months now and not going away. At first I thought it was something messed on her, but obviously it is something else. She doesn't like you touching it.
What could it be?

We have 2 indoor cats, that we have had for years. Now, all of a sudden, one of them has fleas! The other one doesnt, just the one cat named T.J. I dont know where T.J. is getting the fleas from. I have spent about 200 bucks in the last month on flea treatments.

First, i took him to the vet and bought Frontline flea treatment for him. (I put it on the other cat too just in case). Well, that only worked for about 1 week.

Then i took him back to the vet, and they gave him a flea dip bath. That lasted for about 2 days!

Then, we tried a different brand of flea treatment called Advantage. That didnt work at all.

Then we went back to the vet, and bought this powder that you sprinkle all over the carpets, and then vacuum up. That didnt work.

My poor cat has fleas and i dont know what else to do. I'm going broke buying the flea treamtents (they are pretty expensive). He seems to only have fleas on his face/head area and neck. What else can i do to get rid ot these dang fleas!?

My male betta is maintaining a huge bubble nest three times his size and it's taking a mountain shape. He flares up a lot when I get near his aquarium as if he wants to attack me.

Do I need to get him a female to calm him down?

Is there a dog breed that you would never own or that you dislike? Everyone is always asking which dog breeds are their favorites so I thought I would switch it up.
Thanks !

I have a cat who will be 3 next April and she isn't spayed yet. I plan on doing this soon though. She pees in random spots (she IS litterbox trained) and has no interest in the male cats around. My question is...If i get her spayed, will she stop "spraying" or will this continue to go on?

Also, I plan on moving to Hawaii next year...will the new environment cause her to misbehave? Or should it not affect her any?

Anyyyy tips or advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated!

Something that would be relatively easy to care for that doesn't bite. (For a 10 year old)

I have a 5 year old cat who recently developed asthma. He has been to the vet to confirm this. However I cannot really afford to get medication from the vet all the time. Does anyone know of an inexpensive but effective treatment which I can use?

My cat has been a diabetic for many years now. She has been very hard to control but I have had her well under 200 which is great for her ( but still too high). This morning she was 119 and for the last few feedings when it is time for insulin she has only taken maybe one bite and walks away. I am still giving insuling and checking her levels but this is not like her, I am worried something else could be wrong. I have even tried several different foods thinking she was tired of the same can food everyday.

Thank you for your help.

I bought a betta fish (siamese fighting fish) yesterday and it was feeding and moving around fine yesterday. Today ít seems it's been floating around the bottom of the tank, hiding between the plant and not swimming to the top for food. I dont think it ate anything today or is moving much. I was keeping it by the window. It's pretty cold in my house and what do you think i should do and where's best to keep it (Possibly places between the kitchen or bathroom)
