I have gerbils and I noticed something very odd that they do. Everytime one of the gerbils die,the other gerbils will eat their face/head. They don't eat any other body parts except the face. I've tried to find out why they do this and I can never find anything about this certain behavior. Some of my gerbils die of old age and some die a short time after I buy them...I don't want people to think I abuse them or anything.....and I'm usually unaware of the death b/c I'm at school or just not their by their tank all the time. I just got back from school and my Mom told me that one of the gerbils died, it's face was gone and it's body was still warm when she took it's body out of the tank....they seem evil lol

I need to split my fish tank in half. Its a 55 gallon. I have seen pictures of this type of thing but I need to know more. A website that sells these would also be a great help. Thank you all!

ok well, my mum and dad came home last nite and said that we were getting a dog from a man, who lives in a nursing home and can no longer look after it. i have always thought about getting a dog however since my cat can be very agressive towars other animals i thort better of it. We have the dog now but i think its a bit cruel, we dont let it inside all that much seeing as though our cats inside most of the day and when the dog comes inside at nite the cat will growl and hiss and her. We keep the dog in a little run all by its self, most of the time we are all working and i start tafe soon. i feel cruel leaving it there on its on and how it cannot come inside all that often. i wanna talk to my parents about it but i feel mean saying i dont think we should have it and it would be better off in another home...what do you think i should do we have only had the dog for a couple of days, do you think i should wait a week....

She is a brand new kitten, only a week old to our new home, and at first, when you hold her and pet her, she would purr so loudly and rub against you. All of a sudden, one day i picked her up, she jumped off me, violently and hissed at me. Today, after i took her to the vet, she tried to get out of my arms,but then she was purring and seemed relaxed, but her ears were pressed back. What could be the problem? Am I doing something wrong? Is there soemthing wrong with her that we need to make special attention to?

Ok I have had my fish for a while; they were just 28 cent gold fish from wal mart but I have had them for quite a few months now and they have grown to be really big & I have gotten attatched - sad I know. Anyway I have a nice size tank set up in my room; I had two sucker fish and 6 of the other fish. Recently one died and it looked funny; like it was falling apart or something but I didnt really think anything of it; then today I got home from school and two more fish were dead; one of the suckers and one of the gold fish and half of the gold fish looked like all of it's scales were gone. I have looked at the other fish and they look look sick; one especially is losing it's scales / skin and they look horrible does anyone know whats going on with my fish & why they suddenly caught this " disease " or what ever it is ?

Well, long story short, had a doberman and had 3 sweaters given to me, and they where great cause the cold weather really got to her. But, she got old and passed away, and i just got a new doberman, but she's not as big as my other and the sweaters don't fit. She is about a year old and resued from animal shelter so she's probably full grown now. So just looking for a free crochet pattern for a sweater for her. I've searched to no avail, and thought maybe somebody out there has one. Thanks in advance.

I can't have the dog for a few months, until summer, when I can get into my apartment. I prefer to have a puppy so that training will just be mixed in with the usual training and also because I miss having a puppy around. I don't have any other pets with me right now. I am extremely passonate about therapy work and I can't wait to get into it. I need suggestions of breeders that will have litters around late summer to early or mid fall. I would love to have an aussie but other suggestions are welcome as well.

My parakeet and cockatiel are friends. They do not seem to like being out of sight of the other; when they are they call and call until they are back together. They seem to like to sleep in separate cages. The cockatiel is a male, the parakeet a female.
Lately, though, the cockatiel sits in the parakeet's cage and vice versa; they eat each others food. They do this once or twice everyday.
Is this changing of the cages normal or just playful? Is it harmful to them?
I ask them for a "kiss" and they put their beaks on my lips. They love to watch TV on my shoulder where they sometimes groom one another.
So this is a strange question, but do they have genuine affection for one another? Do they think of me as another bird in their "flock" or just a tree with a head that is just another bird to them? Do they love one another? Do they love me or am I just the "bird" that feeds them and keeps them clean?

I used reverse osmosis water and added amquel plus and novaqua. I used one ounce per gallon as opposed to one ounce for 60 gallons. My local fish store says I have anaerobic decomposition and I find that hard to believe. I have very little gravel and the tank is very well aerated. The tank was cycled for 4 weeks with 5 neon tetras and the discus were only in the tank for one week. Did I overdose on the meds? There was absolutely NO sulfur smell before the water change. The biocube has 3 levels of filtration (sponge, carbon, and bio-balls). Help??

ok heres the thing i have to cats...Duece & Mumble. Duece has been neuter since he was little and we just neuter mumble...Everytime Duece sees mumble he tries to attack him. are they gonna stay like that all the time? or are they gonna be friends again?
