I'm 23, but I'm not sure if I'm responsible enough to get a dog. My room-mate says "I like dogs." But I think he's not going to help with the dog and plus what if we fight over who gets to keep it forever?

My hamster escaped, yet again, last night and is somewhere in the dry wall of our kitchen. We can hear her scratching but the stubborn little thing won't come out. We've taken all food off the floor and set up the "bucket trap".
What is the longest time someone's hamster has been on the loose before being caught?

He is a sweet little guy, but he fell off our balcony onto our hard wood floor foyer when he was like 3 weeks old. He seems fine, but not all that bright. I am wondering if this is a result of the fall.

Thanks!

My chocolate lab that is almost 4 cries everytime my 19 month old cries. Is it because it is sensitive to his ears or that he really is feeling sorry for him?

If beta fish hate each other so much that they have to be seperated or they'll fight to the death, how do they make babies? Is there a certain time of the year that they are not angry so they can mate?

I had a dog and a cat and they were great friends. Then the dog passed away last year, and the cat seem to miss him. So I got another cat from the rescue centre to keep her company. At first there was a lot of hissing and spitting, then after awhile they got used to one another. Sadly, the first cat passed away a couple off months ago. Now I'm wondering if I should get a new cat to keep this one company? I read in a cat book, that cats are 'lone' hunters and don't realy need another cat. In fact, it would be cruel to keep more than three in the house. I would realy like some opinions on this, as I can't make up my mind.

I have a question about my cat. I don't need anyone telling me how mean I am to him. I don't need anyone telling me I don't care about him. If that's all you have to say then don't answer it. I feel shitty already. My cat is not well. He is sick. He has been loosing weight fast. He eats but not alot. He has blood in his urine and I noticed this morning that he is not able to poop. He is old and I know he's not well but I just don't have the money to take him to the vet to get all the tests done on him and to have medicine. Yes he is one of my family and one of my kids so don't even ask if it was your kid would you take him in to the doctor 'cause yes I would but it won't cost me close to a thousand bucks. I need to know some websites that I can go to that may tell me what may be wrong with him and how to make him more comfortable. DO NOT JUDGE! I love my cat dearly. I've had him for 12 years and I'm really torn right now. I can't let him live in pain but I can't afford to

This is a serious question. Why do people adopt dogs from rescue groups or shelters? I am not talking about the moral points here such as saving a life etc. I am talking about how do you put a dog in your house that you know nothing about and may have all types of serious issues that flare up later? Please< I do not want to be preached at. I am looking for serious answers to a question that I have had for a long time. The reason this came up today is because a friend rescued a dog last week, against my advice, and the dog has already bitten 2 people. How and why do people do this? Serious answers only please.

This sweet little girl had a baby 3 weeks ago on thursday (1/25/07). Her skin seems fine and there's no bumps or bruises or rashes or any such thing (no mites, either, thank gods). She's losing a little hair on her rump, and she's lost a little weight. Is this normal in a lactating sow? Or should I up her vitamin C intake a bit more? (she gets a large handful of cilantro about once every other day,has water and timothy hay available at all times, and gets 8-in1 pellet mix)

Today, my 14 year old golden labrador had to be put down. It was done at home, and I stayed with her during he process until she passed away. I had been crying all day, she died about 11am, and we have buried her in the garden. I miss her terribly and the house feels so empty and quiet. Its only the last two days or so, she hasnt really been eating and she could stand up. In the night, the vet said she may have had a stroke because she had fouled and was lying in it (because she cant move) also, she was breathing funny and clearly wasnt happy, she always wags her tail when she sees us, but today, she was just an empty emotionless dog.She had lots of cancer that couldnt be operable, apparently labradors are prone to cancer. I am just so heartbroken. I didnt go into work, and we keep finding things of hers, and photos and makes me cry. When will it get easier? I dont want to forget her, but I feel guilty when I try to do other things to "take my mind off it" please no insensitive answer

I have tried everything it seems like. I have put her face in it and swat her butt and put her outside. I have bought dog pads for in the house. I have also got a kennel and she even goes in her kennel. She was adopted from the dog pound and I think is use to going in her kennel. She is still a puppy so why wont she learn.

We rescued an English Mastiff from a place that was foul. At first he behaved but after a couple of weeks he started to poop and wee in the house mainly in the kitchen as this is where he is left whilst we go out with a baby gate so he doesn't roam the house. He is still doing this regardless of the amount of affection he gets whilst we are at home. i come home for lunch and let both our dogs out so they can toilet. He is only by himself for 4 hrs in morning & 4 in afternoon. HE is also wrecking the house he has managed to break the washing machiene by pulling it out and eating the pipes and the wall socet off the wall for the storage heater! I don't know what to do we can not afford expensesive training. Can anyone help?!

We love the dog alot and on't want to get rid of him thanks.

My Pug is almost 2yrs old and was totally housebroken until I went on vacation a few months ago. I take him out in the mornings before work and he does his business, but then during the day he decides to go in the house. I have tried to break him of it, but I'm at a loss.

I got my cat about three weeks ago from the SPCA. I fell inlove with him. When I first brought him home he was on Iams. That's what the shelter gave me, because that is what he was on. He was on that for about 2 weeks. I bought him Felidae about a week ago, and I poured some Felidae in what I had left of my Iams and mixed it up. He was neutered the first week I had him, and has done very well, but here's my problem. He has very loose stools, usually about twice a day. He never had them before I switched his food, but I would really like to put him on Felidae. I called my vet and we have an appointment for Friday, he also has to get his rabies shot then. He acts perfectly normal, plays, runs, cuddles, and isn't acting ill in any other way, and he still uses the litterbox. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Also, I think he may be bleeding, there is no blood in his stools, but there appears to be some around his anus, then again, I can't be sure. Any help?

My daughter had 2 fantail goldfish, except we had no idea if they were male or female. She was really hoping to get some babies. So, this morning, I found one of them dead. She is hoping that with our replacement fish that we get this afternoon, we will have a breeding pair. Except, I have no idea what to look for if they do actually breed this time. I got some info from another yahoo answer on how to distiguish the sex of the fish (this looks too hard for me, so I think it will just have to be a matter of luck).... but I am wondering how the whole "birth" will occur if we luck out with 1 male and 1 female this time.
