I am looking for a dachshund as a home companion. I am normally used to having a little dog running around at my feet and since my previous dogs have passed on I feel it is time to start fresh. I would really love to have a cute little dachshund and yet I cannot find any breeders in NH. If anyone knows of anyone selling, or giving away, dachshunds near or around Conway NH please let me know :) Thanks

A friend of mine has a snake that has not eaten since Dec 10th and has been very weak and is starting to lose color. The snake originally had sand in his cage until we discovered that this was unsafe and now we have wood chips but we suspect that it swallowed some sand. It will not eat anything we tried live and dead food, we also took it to a vet and they force fed it with some high calorie substance but the snake is now losing color and is hiding under the water bowl contantly and is very cold all the time. Is there anything we can do???

Thanks

It's half the size of her body, but she is so peppy and wants to live. So we decided to go through with the surgery. But the Vet says it's less then 50% chance she will make it through the surgery and recovery.......did I make the wrong choice. I waited so long because a few months ago the Vet said she wouldn't live long. All of a sudden she's peppy and full of life...but looks a heck of alot worse. :-(

Should I leave him crated? Is it ok to leave him by himself for 6hours to visit my grandparents or should I bring him with me(he travels alot and pretty well)

I have a 1yr old boston terrier and he is great. He is crate trained and when we are gone that is where he stays. We have tried to leave him out in small doses and he just goes crazy. Sometimes he is good, but rarely. I hate leaving him in his crate when we are out of the house. Is there anyway to fix this? He usually destroys things...like magazines, the couch cushions, etc.

My dog is the nicest dog is the world. My family and I always thought what a good mother she would be, and last night she had seven puppies. The problem is, she won't lick them or cuddle or clean them. I actually think she might even be scared of them. Is this normal? What can I do to help? Why won't she act like a mother to them? [Please don't say that I'm stupid because I should be a respnosible breeder..I'm only 15 years old]

I have a 6 yr old male yorkie that is having a bit of trouble breathing. Most of the time he looks like he just can't seem to catch his breath. He is on medication for what the vet diagnosed as asthma. Could that be why he is having trouble breathing? If not what could be wrong?

My daughter is doing a Science Fair project and we have many questions. The question is:" Do goldfish grow larger in a larger tank? " I have 2 fish bowls with everything in both bowls the same measurements, as well as two 2'' common "Comet" goldfish.
1 Goldfish is in the 1 gal fishbowl and the other in a 1/2 gal fishbowl . I need to know what temperate they should be kept at?
How much water do I change weekly?
How to chart the data I used?
How much square area is needed for our goldfish?
How often and how much do I feed our goldfish? In each fishbowl there is only 1 goldfish.(Both fish are about 2inches each)
Are the bowls large enough? (1 bowl is 1 gal. and the other bowl is.50 gal 1/2 gal.) I was reading up on it and I read that I shouldn't use a goldfish bowl. But why are they called goldfish bowls if you should not use them?

Anyone who cares to help with this, I want to say THANK YOU right now.
Thanks

Okay heres the issue. I have two cats. They are 8 months old and sisters. They have both been fixed which I thought would calm them down. They get into everything and chew on everything. At night they are more hyper and run around and cause a lot of noise. I love them to death but I really wish they were mellow cats. My roomate has a cat too. She is 10 months old and has always been calm. She doesn't jump into the fridge or the cabinets like the other two. She is so mellow. How do I get my cats more mellow.

My poor baby has been vomiting for a while now. I took her to the vet and the first time we tried giving her one medication. It didn't stop the vomiting so I took her back. He did a CBC (all of which came back fine) and a baruim series with XRay. It showed a constricted area of the intestines. It isn't a complete blockage. So while he confers with his associate he has put her on an antibiotic to prevent secondary infection, carafate suspension and Laxatone. He also suggested I feed her Purina Veterinary Diet EN several times a day in small quantities. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with either the medications, the problem itself or the food. Also if you do use the food could you tell me where you found it the cheapest. I have been checking into several online pet supply stores and the cheapest is 17 a case with 10 shipping and handling. Thank you for your help.

Okay - Please let me know the breed. The story behind it.
I personally own an Akita - He has protected me twice, both times in woods. (one when he was only four months old the other when he was nine months) At nine months these dogs are bigger than most. (He was 100% right to protect me the second time - There really was danger, he just barked and growled but it did the trick) So, please let me know how your dog has protected you. Thanks.

The Vet said that our dog probably had a stroke. He had a siezure the other day and frothed at the mouth and peed on the floor. He was riged for a few minutes while he was shaking. The Vet said that dogs are different than humans in the fact that they may be able to use the other side of the brain to heal themselves. He was acting strange before and after his siezure. He was shaking a lot like if he was very cold and getting really close to us and following us into the bathroom which he never did before. He also was climbing into the bathtub and sitting there. He doesn't like to take a bath that much. He would also growl at us for no reason. He is still acting funny. It has been about a week now.
