It may have to do with the area you live in is very good habitat for them.

If you want to discourage them, cut your grass short, heavily prune or remove bushes near your house and reduce your numbers of trees.

Because that is a rather drastic approach (- I would think the trees, grass and bushes are rather nice for people as well)

You might want to see if you can find any small holes they are getting into your home through -- stuff them with plain fine steel wool you get at the hardware store.

The most likely areas will be around openings for pipes and at the base of your foundation.

You can also get a cat - They will catch lizards just like mice.

The good news is that a healthy population of lizards mean your home is ecologically healthy - not many herbicides or poisons, and lots of healthy green growing things.

Healthy yard = healthy lizard population, especially here in florida. Expect lizards and other reptiles to be more likely to be found indoors as cold fronts come through. If it's cold outside, it's warm inside, and they can't resist a warm breeze coming out through a gap, it's survival. Snakes will come into people's houses for this reason as well... Also, in the heat of summer if your house is cooler than outside temps, this will also bring in the exotherms from time to time.

There is NO 100% effective way to keep lizards out of your house. Learn to live with them, they're not hurting anything, and they're much better to have around than the pests they eat.
