Actually there is a fish that eats poop, its called a scat. Yes that is why it has that name and you cant put it in because it is very hard to take care of and is a tropical fish and needs higher temperatures like 80 degrees. There aren't many fish you can put in with a goldfish because they are cold water fish and cant be kept at temperatures higher than 70 degrees. There are some snails I think that can be kept at lower temperatures and they eat algae. Unfortunately you just have to clean up the poop yourself. Vacuuming when you do partial water changes is the best way.

Plecos are not good. Common plecos get a few feet long. Sucker fish cannot be kept with goldfish because once they discover the tastey slime coat on the goldfish they will end up killing the goldfish. Tiny ottos can't even be kept with goldfish because they have a little defensive barb on their dorsal fin and if the goldfish tries eating an otto it will get stuck in the throat and likely both fish will die.

First of all, no fish eats poop. Period.

What size is your tank? That is very important as to what fish to add, if any.

Do you vacuum the bottom of the tank and do a partial water change once or twice a weeK? This is very important with goldfish as they produce a very large amount of waste.

Plecostamus are good. They are bottom feeders which also go around tank and eat algae off sides and furnishings. They like temp to be between 64 and 79 F(18-26 C).So as u can see will live in the tank with gold fish temperatures.

Ive had a Spotted Dojo Loach in my tank with my goldfish for a few years now, and havent had a problem with it. Its about 7 inches long and looks like and eel.
