Well, I'll give it a shot.

Chauncey was our big orange cat. He wanted to be a only cat but had to share our affections with two other cats. This made him morose and not very affectionate. A typical "Morris" cat. You know, talk to the butt. Anyway, as he got older he developed asthma and the vet said there was not much they could do and that he would probably die soon. So we took him with us one time camping, so that we could give him his meds and because we didn't want to leave a sick cat at home. The minute we got to our campsite, an immense change came over Chauncey. He had us all to himself and he loved it. He's jumping all over me and talking to me, jumping out of the bushes to tackle my leg. This sick cat done went Heidi on us. I had this avocado pit and tossed it, and I'll be darned but he ran after it, chased it down, and brought it back. True story. When it came time to go home, he was hissing at us from the back seat of the car. From then on, we made it a point to go camping a lot. He got to know what a trail was and he would run up ahead and wait for us around the turn, then run up ahead some more. He lived 3 years after he was diagnosed as terminal. The asthma finally did win out, unfortunately, and we miss him.

That's my pet story. Hope it lifted your spirits.

Ok.. the picture on my avatar is "joker" my newest addition to my family..

I found out that he is a purebred Tonkinese, after taking him to a vet shortly after adoption.. I adopted him after he continuously wandered into a friends house to help himself to food. He had been hiding under the porch and evertime the door opened, he would run inside..

I got him because the fiend couldnt keep him. This is the most intellegent cat I have ever met with an almost human like personality.

Its sad, he had a bad respitory infection, chlymidia in his eyes, and was malnourished. He is also extremely afraid of cages and being trapped. The vet assumes he was only originally purchased for breeding purposed, neglected, and trapped in a box or cage untill he somehow escaped.

He took over my house the minute he arrived here. He gets along with his adopted brothers ( a 8 yr old tabby, a 14 yr old dog, 2 house rabbits ) ..

Joker uses his paws like fingers, he has even shown us he can open soda pop cans.. I have had him for 5 months now and will never part with him..he is approximatly a 8 months old now

There was a stray cat next door to me living under a house. He was being man handled by children and he was starving and dying and crying. I pushed the children out of the way, crawled under the house, picked him up, took him to the vet and had Sammy neutered and took him in as an indoor cat. He only has only fang and broken tail and ear slice scares. I have had him five years. He purrs all the time, he put on weight, maybe a little too much and he is so vocal it is like he is talking. He is so very happy and content. He is my miracle.

Most recent one?

My female roommate has something extremely wrong with her knee (she's on crutches at the moment). After a couple of nights of sniffing, backing off,and tail-wagging,the Great Dane of the House (Balen) figured out they weren't about to hurt him.

While it's normal for him to practically -stand- on us when we go to do anything, this was different. As she was walking down our (somewhat narrow) hallway, she had a crutch on one side and him on the other. He took it one step at a time, constantly right beside her, knowing she was unsteady on the crutches at the time-he wanted to be there in case she fell.

A goofball who typically RAMS into our legs, falls all over us and more or less takes up the whole hall whenever he wants, was carefully guiding our injured roommate back to her room. Seeing as how she's legally blind,a leg injury doesn't help things. Balen helped, even if nothing happened. =)

i don't have a pet story but i have a little quote that is good its called

a prayer for the stressed

Grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i cannot accept and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those i had to kill because they pissed me off.and also help me to be careful of the toes i step on today.for they may be connected to the a** i have to kiss tomorrow.always help me to give 100% at work 12% on monday 23% on tuesday 40% on wednesday 20% on thursday and 5% on friday.and help me to remember that when i am having a bad day and it seems people are trying to p*ss me off, that it takes 42 muscles to frown but only 4 to extend my middle finger and tell the to bite me!

My cat was a feisty little girl as a kitten. She knew how to push every button I had. All week, it was Molly! get out of there! Molly Get away from that! She was going thru her teen rebellion stage, and I was worn out. Later in the day, my sister came for a visit. We were talking, and from the kitchen, I thought of something, and yelled to her. Kathy! I just thought of something! And the cat pranced by, ran to Kathy, looked at her funny, and ran back to me....she was laughing at Kathy! Kathy was in trouble for once!

I don't have a pet story, but i do however, have a quote that i find handy when i'm having a bad day.

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing -- that's why we recommend it daily." --Zig Ziglar

Right when I was reading this my 3 year old yellow lab was in the process of crawling in my lap. She thinks she is still a little puppy and can fit in my lap. :-)

Well, anytime when I was little, and I would cry, wether it would be I got hurt or mommy told me no, our great dane jewels would come over to me with a pillow in her mouth and set it down on my face and lay beside me. I don't know if she was trying to comfort me or shut me up, but I still thought it was a sweet gesture.

We had a cat show up at our house one summer and she ended up having kittens. well, all but one got killed by our dog, and the survivor had a scar on her belly, so we named her Scarlet. Well my dad took her to the vet to have her spayed, and while checking her out the vet looks at my daddy, and says, "I do believe you have a Scar, not a Scarlet." My daddy was so mad when he got home, he's all "here I am telling this vet this cat is a girl and it's a boy. You guys emarassed me so bad!!"

When I am having a bad day, or I was gone extra long at work my animals greet me extra special. My donkey brays and runs to the fence when he hears my truck, my dog 'smiles' at me and dances, and my mare will saunter up to me, look me in the face, then give me a big ole' slobbery kiss. She puts her top lip over my nose, her bottom lip under my chin, and slobbers all over my face with her toungue. I usually give her a peppermint beforehand so I don't have to smell her 'hay-breath'.

A few weeks ago, the lives of 11 puppies were saved. Someone dumped them at our vet clinic (I work there as a kennel tech, fancy way of saying pooper scooper lol) and left. We didn't know who they were, we just got there and 11 puppies were sitting in our outside kennel in the freezing cold. We would have to put them to sleep after we had closed. We had called the state whatever or something, and were going to have them fund to put them down. Just as I had pulled out the first puppy and was carrying him to the exam room, a woman dashed in, out of breath and frantic. "The puppies!" she had managed finally. "don't kill the puppies! I'm taking them all home!" I guess her son, and her friend had walked in after her. my co-worked looked at her and exclaimed "all of them?!" these were german shepard cross puppies and they were pretty big. "yes all of them," she told us. We happily helped them gather the puppies up and carry them to her truck. The pups now all have loving homes, thanks to some unknown person who rushed up there, not knowing if we had put them down or not, just in case. If she had been 45 seconds later, one puppy would have died.
