They are not kept in the same cage as one another. I just want to know if it is safe to put them together outside of the cage.

I have a red eared slider, I was wondering if it was okay to put a cuttle bone in his tank. We recently had a yellow bellied turtle at the pet store i work at and we had one in his tank floating in the water. Does this work or does anyone know?

My four-year old shi-tzu mutt (rescued from the pound two years ago) has bitten this guy twice now. Both times the guy was approaching dog in a friendly manner. I was in the room with them and was totally surprised by the dog's response. The dog never bites anyone else -he interacts with other guys fine. How can we stop this aggressiveness towards this one man? Both times dog drew blood. Second time dog chased guy and bit him twice; we had to drag dog off the guy's leg-I thought the dog was going to kill the guy. Background: Dog rescued from pound two years ago. Had been abused before that. This guy is a regular visitor-why would dog act like this and what can we do about it?

I play little tricks on my dogs, like making their ball disappear when I throw it (every dog owner knows that trick)and getting them to look for it, or we play hide & seek, or I knock on the wall and say "come in" so they think someone is at the door.. and its like they totally get the jokes and they think its funny too.. Is it just me, or do other people joke around and play with their dogs like that too??

Thanks to all who responded to my original question. I took my cat (kitten) back to the vet and as I suspected, he hit a nerve. He gave her a sub Q injection of a steroid. He felt that she will be okay, but she is still not walking right. I read that this may take several weeks to resolve. Has anyone out there had this experience? What was the treatment? What was the prognosis. Again, thank you for your response and concern.

Most cats seem to relax when picked up by the scruff of their neck. My cat seems to do the opposite. He starts to cry and sounds as though he is in pain. I don't have the heart to pick him up that way but others who I know and who have done so to their cats and not had problems have also picked chevy up this way and he had the same bad reaction.

i have 1 grey banded kingsnake, 1 solomon island tree boa, 2 corn snakes, a chaco gold striped knee tarantula, 2 rats, 7 gerbils, 2 parakeets, 2 water dragons, had a asian green vine snake but it died recently, a green anole and a brown anole and getting a columbian boa(boa constrictor) in a couple of weeks.

I rescued 2 kittens recently and need to find them a good home. The animal shelters won't take them because they were feral cats and I intervened before they were a year old. Any suggestions? I have 17 cats already and can't possibly take on any more. I live in Austin TX, and they are grey tabby around 6 months of age, Still very skittish, but have used the litterboxes and not fighting with my other cats. Any help much appreciated, and please, no smart *** comments I don't have time for immature high schoolers.

when is it safe to change for Eukanuba puppy food to Iamms puppy food? Just because ithey are made by the same company and i can buy the iaams at the grocery store rather than travel to the pet store out of town for the other food? Also does anyone know if there is a difference between those 2 brands?

I have a small salt water tank with no large organisms in it right now. The tank is 10g with 10lbs of live rock and Sand from Fiji. There is proper filtration and I have enough light to turn this into a nano-reef if desired. The tank has also been cycled and has been up for over 4 months.
I have heavy algea growing in it so I am most likely going to add some shrimp and crabs but I wanted to get some ideas.
Also, there is probably about a few hundred little shrimp in the tank that came with the sand. I would prefer not to house something that will eat them up.

My answer to this question is
Never in a million years. An animal is a living creature and does not deserve to be abused or neglected but in my opinion anyone who would risk their lives for one is one burger short of a happy meal.

I am thinking of buying an aquarium (probably around 20 gallons) and getting some goldfish. I am trying to make an informed decision about the products out there. I'm looking for a reasonably priced filter (the petstore suggested Whisper) and, I'm also trying to decide if I need an air pump or not. Any help would be apreciated! Thanks!
