How long does it take for them to grow to adults?

It depends on the temperature to a certain extent,but in the mid 70's 48 hours would be about right. The parent fish will care for them until they can come to the surface for air on their own.The brooding tank should not be too deep(three or four inches) the growth rate depends largely on the all important "first food". Most breeders use infusoria, a culture of microscopic varmints. Culturing infusoria is an art in itself, but getting the little guys up to the size where they can take brine shrimp hatch-lings and egg yolk forced through a fine linen handkerchief takes a week of infusoria.Isn't the breeding process amazing to watch? Oh yeah the air temperature in the brooding tank needs to be carefully controlled when the fry begin to develop their labyrinth cavities somewhere around the second week.--------Good luck,PeeTee
