Some days before i leave for work and the dog is still outside doing her business I will hide cookies all over my apartment. On window sills, in corners, under pillows. Just to give her something to do. My parents play the "cookie game" with their golden. They tell the dog to sit/stay (which she does very well, cause she knows thats how you play the cookie game), they go in the other room and hide the cookies all over, and then we all laugh watching her sniff them out. You know how every now and then the dog just goest nuts? I call it rocket dog. She will chase me from room to room and sometimes ill hide behind a door and jump out when shes gets close, she seems to love this game. Our other favorite is "blanket dog", Just throw a blanket over her and she goes nuts barking and snapping under the covers. I think Ill go play that now actually! Thanks for asking, that was a fun question!

Yes. But how do you play hide and seek with a dog? Their sense of smell is so good that they should be able to find you as easily as if you just stand in the middle of the room.
In fact, scent discrimination games are a fun game to play. They win if they bring back the object that you've handled and lose if they bring back the object some stranger has handled. Of course, if you use tennis balls for the game and try to get your coworkers to help you out providing the 'strange scents', be ready for some third grade humor.
Edit: cangelbeck reminded me of another game my dog loves. I have a 'treat ball'. It's hollow and you small dog treats inside. If she rolls the ball around, eventually a treat has to fall back out of the hole. That gives her something to keep her occupied if she's left home alone.

Boxers LIVE to play games! They are known for their playful nature & called the comedians of the canine world. Mine loves hide & seek, having toys hidden from him, being faked out with ball throwing (can NOT trick them long!), loves to be laughed with & at, and has a better sense of humour than most people.

Of course! My min pin and I wrestle (very gently on my part, he's only 10 1/2 pounds), my husband will knock on the door to get him excited or bark. He'll even pretend hit me and my dog goes nuts. Cuddle time is the best. For a very active dog, he's such a sweetie when it comes to snuggling.

I play hide and seek/tag with my dog. I'll run and hide in a room and make a "cuppa-cuppa" sound and he'll come running to find me. When he does I get up and run and hide somewhere else. After two or three times he'll get so excited he'll take off running and then I go and find him. It's adorable.

I play with my dogs all the time. They love to play hide and seek actually. It's hilarious to watch them try to hide from us. I walk around saying "Where are you?" and one of them will actually bark everytime I say it. It's too cute! They love to play tease too. They take stuff and run so you will chase them and we do the same thing with them. Helps wear them out and keeps them playing and getting exercise. They know when to calm down though too.

Oh yeah I play hide and seek with them all the time. I make them stay in one room and then go hide in another room/closet in the house and then yell "come find me" then my dogs go nuts trying to find me. They run around like crazy and then once they find me the jump up and down "like I won I found her first" It is fun. My golden likes to what else retreive any and every thing. My Shepherd likes to play soccer and tug of war with her rope. They also love going to the golf course with their "cousin" ( my brother in laws dog) and chase rabbits and squirrels. (Dont worry they dont ever get them they are too slow). Also my husband wrestles with them all the time. And Sierra (my golden) hates when you blow on her. If you even make the sound of blowing air she flips out and starts barking and grabbing toys like shes saying "ok you wanna play with me throw my wolf" she is funny.

Yes, I play hide and seek with one of my dogs. I'll hide behind a door, tree, dresser, etc and I'll start calling in a ghostly voice "POPPI, POPPI" and she'll go nuts looking for me. When she finally finds me she starts biting my feet, pulling them, growling. She gets really upset. I guess she's saying "How could you scare me like that?? Don't ever do it again!"
