A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/7sZJ3
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Some dogs will lift a paw and hold it off the ground as a submissive gesture when they're feeling uncertain. Or, if he's actively pawing the air, it could be a signal that he wants to play.
The way he's holding the rest of his body will help to give you an idea what he's feeling - if his tail is tucked under a bit or held stiffly, he's probably uncertain, while if his tail is held upright and wagging happily, he's feeling playful. If his mouth is closed, he's uncertain, and if it's open & relaxed, he's relaxed and happy.

Your dog lifts its paws for one of two reasons
1) it has a thorn in its paw and needs it removed
2) It wishes to shake your hand.
Love and enjoy your dog.

you dont give much info on this. but if he is only doing it when looking at you or the cat he is asking you for something. It could be a little love from you like a pet or food or going out etc. I have 2 dogs and they both do this, I say to them what do you want ? and believe it or not they understand it and then they will show me by going to the door if they want out, or to their bowl if they want food or just put their head on me if they want a stroke. You will both have to teach each other and in a while you will know what he wants. He is only young yet but sounds like he is learning fast.

When my dog was a puppy whenever she sat near me, I would `hold hands` with her paw. Now every time I sit down she comes to me and gives me her paw to hold ! However if you have not taught your dog to do this, she just wants you to touch her or play with her. Dogs are like us, they like to be held, it gives them confidence and makes them feel good.

Some dogs do it when they are unsure, a sort of insecurity thing, especially when you are trying to teach him something & he isn't sure what you mean. It's very endearing & when they do it you can easily then train them to shake paws etc.

maybe he wants to give you its paw to show you he can do tricks so you can reward him with a treat or when he sees the cat he might be trying to tell you the cats up to no good

Have you taught him how to 'shake'? Where you put you're hand out and your dog puts its hand out and you shake hands. Because I taught my dog how to and now she sometimes lifts her paw up when my hand is near her.
