It depends on a lot of factors. I agree with you to a large extent, but there are varying degrees of risk and if I thought I could get in and out without major injury, I would try it.

You bet I would! Anyone that wouldn't at least try is cruel. No living thing deserves to die in such a horrific way. Even fire fighters ask if there are any pets in the home so they can rescue them before anything else while the rest of the team gets ready to extinguish the fire. Allowing an animal to die is horrible! I even have a sticker on my house that says how many pets and what kind I have in my house just in case.

if you've ever had a dog you truly loved, you might answer differently. also, you need to define burning building -- if it's barely on fire, then yes, i would go save my two beloved dogs....
is it crumbling and i would certainly die (100% sure i would die) if i went in there? if that's the case, self-preservation would take over, and i probably wouldn't go in. THO -- i would ask a firefighter to do it, or look for other options (not sure what those would be).
firefighters risk their lives to save human beings and animals, as well. frankly -- some of the humans they save are probably not worth saving, so not sure why you would put a blanket statemet about a pet. it's all conditional.

In my onpinion when you get a pet it becomes a part of your family. I have 5 cats and I would go into a burning building to save any one/ or all of them. I'm not in your words, a burger short of a happy meal. I am a compassionate, responsible pet owner. And if you wouldn't do all you can to save your pets than you should't have them!

Well I would and you seem to be the one burger who is short of a happy meal. Any creature that can give unconditional love should be saved. If it were a human in the building I would watch them fry and laugh.

I would without even thinking twice about it. From the moment I decided to have that animal I became solely responsible for their care and well being, and by leaving them behind I would not be living up to my end of the deal. my dogs are way better than most people and are more honest loving trust worthy and way better all around beings. I would not think twice about saving them another human I would unless family then I would without doubt save them. But a stranger I doubt it.

I did so once !
My sister and I saved about 200 rabbits from a burning
farm !
Worse thing was that even the firemen didn't want to go
in and tried to stop us . . .
But we managed to sneak in by using the back door !
The funny thing is that , not able to grab the very hot metal
cages , we quickly put all the rabbits in the kitchen of the
owner of the farm . . .
And guess what ?
They all started to copulate !!!
It was about 2 o'clock in the morning . . .
I will never forget that night !

Then I guess I'm one burger short of a happy meal. If there was any chance that I could go in and save my pet I most certainly would.

Would you go into a burning house to save your child????? For those of us who are "one burger short of a happy meal" We have extra heart and humanity, I would absolutly risk my life for a member of my family, if your pet isnt a member of your family you dont deserve one.

I am a college educated woman, and yes, I would go into my burning house to save one of my animals. When I brought them home I made an agreement to love and protect them no matter what. To me they are like my children, and you would not put a question up like: Would you run into a house to save a child?
Oh, and I assure you that my happy meal is complete

Absolutely yes.....with out a doubt .....Even if it was not my pet
anyone who would not,is a person with no conscious.
If i had to choose between saving a selfish person like you (the ask er) or a helpless innocent pet .....The pet would win hands down .
Did you mean a french fry short of a happy meal?
