We just recently got a 11 month old puppy basset. We also have a cat. The two it seems have no problems, when the dog sleeps the cat comes and lays near the dog, when the dog is awake he wants to find the kitty and bark. It seems like he wants to play, but the cat wont have it. Is there anything I can do to make these two remain in the same room? Currently, I have my cat in my bedroom with the door closed or else the dog will bark non stop for hours....

I have a 4 mo. old puppy who is very good at going outside to use the bathroom. The problem is, is that she still goes in the house, and won't wine at the door to go "potty". She ends up going on the floor, and most of the time its not on her paper. The carpets are getting disgusting, though I clean them all of the time. Is there a way to train her to whine at the door to go potty? Also does anyone know of a good spray to use or a home remedy I can put on the floors to deter her from using the floors to void herself? Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

cat in the book!

Someone on here was sarcastically answering one of my questions about slathering my cat with icing or dunking him in glaze cuz he looks like a marble cake and I thought it would be tasty and fun ....

but I digress .... I thought it was just a joke until I saw the book in the bookstore, now I have the daily calendar too ... it is purrfect!

Anyone have any great ideas?

PLEASE don't steal mine about slathering his marble cake fur coat with icing! And no, I don't want to put a cherry up his as* whoever suggested that!

My dog needs an operation, she's torn her cruciate ligament (her knee) and is limping and in pain. She means the world to me and I need to get it done ASAP - it tears my heart out to see her in pain. The operation will cost around $500 plus boarding fees for a few days. How can I save money within a short amount of time (i.e. a month at worst), while still paying bills and debts off?!

Please don't reply if you hate dogs or are going to be negative about spending a large sum on a dog.

I am genuine and I hope those who answer this are too.

I have 2 Silver Dollars in my 75 gallon tank along with other fish. One of them has a small yellow spot on its tail, looks like on both sides. It almost looks loke a little ball attached. It seems very healthy and it has not spread to other fish. What is it?

I took my kitten, Savannah, to the vet yesterday and was told to pick her up today. When I got there I was told that she has had a reaction and the vet really was not too familiar with it. She woke up from the surgery. However, she is really disoriented. He let me see her. When I pet her, she purred, but she could not hold her head up. It almost looked like she was drunk or dizzy. The vet did say that she was eating. He is going to keep her at the vet until Monday now so that he can monitor her. He said he thinks she will either sleep this off, and if not, that she will outgrow this. Has anyone had this happen to their kitty? I am soooooo worried about my baby!!!!

I have two dogs that smell bad. They are two big dogs. It is too cold to give them a bath outside and the two big dogs won't get in the tub inside, so how do I make them smell better then they do?

I have a 15 year old neutered male who has lived with other cats in the past, but has spent the last 7 years as a single cat. I was recently adopted by 2 female kittens (now 5 months) and though my adult spat and hissed at them at first, he now tolerates them and even licks them and plays with them from time to time. What conerns me is that he will sometimes go after one or the other of them and kind of slap her around and nip at her, growling as though he's just basically mad that she exists. This isn't in response to anything the kitten will have done - in fact, she could just be sleeping. Once in a while his victim will paw back at him, but more often she'll just stay on her side and deflect the blows. He never bites and the claws stay in, but sometimes he smacks so hard I can hear the thumping, so I am concerned considering he's so much bigger than them. After slapping her around for a while, he'll simply walk off. He'll also start smacking them if they move when he's grooming them

we live in the country, so we have plenty of room for running and playing, although the dog will be sleeping in the house-2 girls, age 11 and 5, both have lived around dogs their entire lives-we need some ideas on a good breed-nothing really long-haired, or requiring all kinds of special grooming (poodles are DEFINITELY out) and we don't want some little thing the size of a housecat...our last dog was a rotti/lab mix of about 130-140 lbs. we have had dogs as small as a scottie, but we like having a larger dog, and i feel more secure when i'm away knowing that there is a big dog at home watching out for my girls-any suggestions?

when i do start breeding. how do i know what price to put on them. as some puppies from the same breeder are different prices. does it have anything to do with there nose length. so have longer noses. or does it have to do with colour. can you help me know the difference. i have tried to find books about poms here on the gold coast of queensland and you know the pet shop doesn't have any and neither does the dook shop. what bookshop doesn't have books on breeds of dogs??? i couldn't beleive it....

Okay, my boyfriend and I are not sure what to do so I thought I would ask everyone here. As some of you know, if you have read my few posts, we are looking at getting a Ragdoll kitten in the near future. We have done a lot of research and have checked out two different breeders now. Here's the info:

Breeder #1:
Been breeding for almost 2 years
Breeds to preserve the "old line" Ragdolls
Kittens to be born this weekend
Says they have about 2 litters per year
Kittens go home between 12-16 weeks
Kittens are spayed/neutered before going to new home
Male Kitten - $635 (including neutering)
Female Kitten - $685 (including spaying)
Cattery was very clean - no foul smell
Was shown all the cats including the males
All cats seemed in great health; very friendly & happy
Breeder answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable
Has a health guarantee/kitten contract (not sure of the details though)
Not sure when we are issued the kitten's papers
Found out about breeder thru a Ragdoll website
Breeder's website: www.rosehillrags.com

Breeder #2:
Been breeding for 7 years
Has 13 week old kittens and 7 week old kittens; another litter on the way
Says they have about 4-5 litters per year
Kittens go home at 12 weeks
Kittens are spayed/neutered before going to new home
Kittens are $450 (including spay/neuter)
Cattery smelled STRONGLY of urine; obvious stains on carpet & hair everywhere
Was able to see 2 female cats (one pet, one breeder) & 4 kittens (did not see the mother or father cat of the kittens we saw)
All cats seemed in good health; very friendly & happy
Breeder answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable
Gave us a pamphlet explaining the breed & his selling policies
Has a health guarantee/kitten contract (stating you must get the kitten checked out by your personal vet within 2 days of purchase to verify the kitten is in good health; your money is given back if kitten is not healthy; there is a one year from date of purchase health guarantee against congenital or genetic defects)
Kitten's papers are mailed 10 days after purchase
Found the breeder thru the local paper advertising kittens for sale
Breeder does not have a website

We are not sure which place to purchase from because money is an issue. BUT we also want to make sure we are purchasing a healthy kitten from a good breeder. There is a BIG price difference between the two. What would you guys do? I feel like I should go with my gut, but if the kittens are essentially the same. . . and they have the same health guarantee, etc. . . I would rather pay less. I dunno what to do. What do you guys think?

Please help!! :?

KK, I have 2 mares who are both pregnant for spring/summer foals. Kola is a 6 yr. Quarab mare, and Cheyenne is a 10 yr. Arab/ Hackney. I just got them over the summer and was told they both had had foals b4. {dont know if that is true} I've had the vet/farrier out and asked basic questions on foal care from experts. I guess I could just use some more tips on right b4 the mare has the foal {like what 2 do}, and right after. {like if I have 2 deliver the baby, what do I do ect. } I DO NOT need any simple tips, like 'stop riding a month b4 she foals', 'give the foal attention' ect. PLEASE, I DONT HAVE TIME FOR NONSENSE! THANX 2 U WHO ANSWER PROFESSIONALLY!!

he was looking at a wire haird fox terrier, which is a larger breed, does anyone know about that breed and if it will take to my puppy, if not what breed would be right, I want a male so they can be play pals and bff! Also we are in apartments, so it has to be about the same energy level as a shih tzu.
