I just posted about my dog's inner ear infection, and just wanted to let you all know that the amox I gave my dog was what we had left over from a previous vet visit. It is still good - doesn't expire til 2008. Secondly, this isn't the first time I've treated animals, and third, she IS going to the vet at 3pm, like I stated in my original post. I love my Grace. I wouldn't harm her in any way.

It is not a black light... I have already tried that.
Is it the same kind of light, but just a blue bulb?

Some of the stuff I read people here say about bettas is outrageous. I would like to know where you came up with the information that they get stressed in big tanks and that they always kill everything in the tank with them.

Bettas do great in big tanks, in fact the bigger the better! And they are very good community fish, seldom will you find a betta that kills everything in sight. Just don't keep them with other bettas and most of the time they will be fine!

I have noticed that weimeraner tails are very short in William Wegman's photos, so I would like to know if they are cropped or are just natural. I have read his book about Fay, his second dog, and it didn't say anything about why the tail is short.

P.S. William Wegman is a photographer. Here is his site:

I have an adorable Chihuahua that I've had for almost 9 years now. She's never shed a lot of her hair until recently. I've been giving her 3 baths a day to see if I can stop some of the shedding, but no it just seems to make it worse. I called the Vet and they said it was normal, but I just want to know if there's a way that I can get her to stop shedding so much. I'm getting tired of vacuuming my rug every 10 minutes. I thought seriously about taking her to the Doggie Parlor and getting her hair shaved off or something, but honestly she would look like a rat and never come out from under the bed. Any ideas here?

Recently, our kitten has been able to jump higher than he could and now he's jumping on top of everything and climbing curtains and such. We have a spray bottle, but it doesn't seem to work too well, especially when we can't spray him right when he does it. One of the problem areas is my monitor. He likes to jump on top of my desk then on the monitor to jump and climb up the curtains. I can't use the spray then, for fear that the water mist will get on the insides of my monitor. Don't know what else to do. He almost seems crazed. I'll get him down from one thing, then he'll zoom into another room and I hear crashing sounds of stuff falling and find him on top of stuff I have stacked on my dresser. This has only been happening recently. Any ideas?

I have a tabby, she's obiese but I've been trying to help her on that. She's always had a sensitive spot just before her tail on her back. But recently she's become more and more sensitive all the way from her mid section to her tail. There doesn't appear to be a rash, but when I pet her I have to stop half way down. When I do pass over the spot, she meows, sticks out her tongue and/or tries to nip at me. Does anyone know whats wrong and what I can do about it? Thanks

First of all, let me say that my dog is 13 years old and Saturday she started having trouble walking, like she was getting dizzy and couldn't balance herself. That's when we started noticing that she was shaking her head a lot, leaning her head to the right to gaurd her ear, and having pain. It's obvious it is inner ear infection. Because her symptoms suddenly showed up on a Saturday evening there were no vets to go to until Monday, unless I wanted to pay $125 to walk into the emergency clinic, so I started her on baby aspirin for pain and 40mgs Amoxicillin q 12h for the infection. (5mgs per 1lb of body weight - she weighs 8 lbs) I happened to read an old post where "kgreives" advised someone that because they couldn't afford to pay the vet's exhorbitant costs for services that they shouldn't own a dog. Ignorance is everywhere. Here's my advice - take your dog to the vet whether you have all the money or not. Pay what you can before you leave then tell them they'll have to bill

I bought a betta and a dwarf frog in mid november and put them together in a 1 gallon lighted tank that stays steady temp. at 78. I did a lot of research before I even went shopping for them. Anyway, 2 days ago my betta was swimming around happily and normally, and literally 2 minutes later he was dead on the bottom of the tank (not floating?) I waited a little to make sure he was dead. Then I bought a new betta and the same thing happened. I don't think my frog did it because the fish had no torn fins or anything and the frog was not aggressive and niether was the fish to each other. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I don't want my lone, healthy frog to be alone in this tank... I'm just not sure what kind of friend to get him or what caused my bettas to die so that it doesn't happen again... suggestions?

He was abused by my ex, I left and took him, showed him only love, hes fine in the house, and once people are in the house. but I have to show him that they are ok. But he acts like he is going to bite them at first then he just smells them and walks away... this just started a few months ago.... any suggestions to get him to let people enter freely.

I'm looking for a good sized tank for my turtles (75 gallon for two late juvenille RESs). I haven't been able to find one that isn't like a fish tank. It needs to be long and deep without as much emphasis on the height.

I could make it or buy it, but I need to know a good place to get one. If you have an idea on how to make it, please give me as much instruction as you can. I'm really kinda stuck on the $200 mark without the stand (stand will be another $200 I'm sure).

Thanks in advance.
