Some of the stuff I read people here say about bettas is outrageous. I would like to know where you came up with the information that they get stressed in big tanks and that they always kill everything in the tank with them.

Bettas do great in big tanks, in fact the bigger the better! And they are very good community fish, seldom will you find a betta that kills everything in sight. Just don't keep them with other bettas and most of the time they will be fine!

I completely know what you mean...and my heart goes out to all the poor fish out there suffering because of their owner's lack of knowledge. You do hear some pretty outrageous stuff on here...I have heard people speak of people cleaning their aquarium out w/ bleach and then putting the fish back in and they are like...what's going on? I'm just glad that there is at least a forum like this to where people can have their misinformation corrected.

I agree!! Before buying my betta (and any of my other pets) I make sure to research as much as i can. I go to vets, online, pet stores, and anything else i can think of. I'm always telling people to do their research. It won't hurt to wait a few weeks while you gather info. That way you'll be better prepared . Bettas love the extra space and get along with other fish (sometimes even with other bettas). People, do your RESEARCH!

Many people get told bad information at the local pet store, some read it on the internet, and I swear some people simply make it up.

There are so many misconceptions about betta's here that you could spend all day simply trying to correct people about bettas.

For those that want to learn more stop by the betta forums at FishGeeks: http://www.aquaria.info/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewforum&f=60

I definitely agree with you! I had a betta in a 30 gallon for years with my other fish! If anything, he got picked on, but he NEVER killed any other fish, and he never acted stressed at all!
