to stop eating cat poo and is there anything wrong with her if she does this? My boyfriend and I think she does it for attention but could it be something else?

It's best not to let your dog eat poop because many parasites, including giardia, coccidia, roundworms and whipworms, can be transmitted through dog and cat poop. Additionally, clumping litter can pose a serious health threat to dogs that eat cat poop. Think of what the litter does when a cat urinates in it. Similar things can happen in a dog's stomach if it eats enough of the litter.

It is not uncommon for this to happen, and it even has a clinical name (coprophagia). It could be caused by any number of things, such as a dominance issue, or perhaps the puppy has some nutritional deficiencies.

I don't have much to offer for ways to fix the behavior, but perhaps reexamining the puppy's diet or working on basic obedience could help.

She's probably not doing it to get attention. She's more likely doing it because it's high in protein and it tastes good to her. Some people think they do it to try and keep their enviroment clean, but at six months I doubt her maternal instincts are that well developed yet.

I'd try to find a spot for the cat box that the cat can get to, but the dog can't. Maybe put a cat door into the basement or laundry room and keep it in there. It could also be that she's trying to make up for some nutritional deficiency, so try feeding her a higher quality dog food, or talk to your vet about suppliments.

That is not unusual. Like the previous person said, keep on the puppy. Put pennies in a can and toss it near her to get her attention. There are also natural supplements you can buy that detour dogs from eating poo. good Luck.

Dogs don't have good taste. Alot of times they'll eat stuff like that thinking it's food. It takes about 3 years for a dog to get smart. I have a Dachshund that is 2 years and listens. I don't need to put him on a leash so I suspect at 3 years he'll be a absolute angel. Time and Patience. They usually grow out of it but in the mean time tell her no, scold her and don't let her do it... Watch her and keep her on a leash till you start to see her listening. I also noticed a portable dog kennel for doggie time outs are worth their wait in gold... Good luck...

Usually dogs eat cat poo because they can. Keep the cat litter sifted or put the litter box where the cat can get to it but the dog can't. Eating excrement is not healthy.

Get a litterbox with a hood and face it towards a wall (I put mine in a corner) with just enough space for the cats to get in or out (mine jump on top and then go in). Or, clean the box several times a day so there isn't any cat poop in there for her to eat!

She does it because she is a dog and though we cannot understand and find it gross it probably tastes GOOD to her.

call you local vets office and see about getting some "Forbid" to add to the cat's food. It does not hurt them and you only need to add for a few days and make sure that your dog can get to the mess. It deters them from eating the feces and they won't eat again and if they do you just do it again for a few days

It's normal for dogs to do that. Just put the cat box where she can't get it.
