I have just recently agreed to take 2 Bloodhounds from a woman whose husband died. They are almost 2 years old and brothers so I couldn't seperate them. However I have never owned a Bloodhound and don't know too much about the breed(i have 2 basset hounds). If anyone has some general info on a Bloodhound it would be greatly appreciated.

My female cat goes limp and falls over when trying to bring up a hairball. She falls head first like she is losing air but then after it comes up she is fine. This is very scary has anyone experienced this? I have had other cats and never experienced this. I will pick her up and set her back down but she can't stand on her legs they just go completely limp. But then she will be fine.....what is happening? She will be going to a vet obviously but any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you

My dog whom I have had for three months now has not barked once. She is with me almost all day and night, even goes to work with me and not a peep out of her. She is not a Basenji, and she has been to the vet a couple times since I adopted her from the shelter, and the vet says she is perfectly healthy except an ear infection we cleared up. I just understand why she is so quiet.

My dog ran away today, and tonight he returned. When he returned, he was tore up.Several teeth marks all over him, I have checked him out really close, and none of the wounds are deep.Looks like mainly just teeth scraps across his skin, not sure what kind of animal it is.Cant take him to his vet because he is out of town, but I was hoping that I could aid in his care until he can see the vet.

Well, if you scroll down and read my other question about being lonely when I move out from my parent's house which relates to this question... maybe I should just get a dog? I have three dogs here at my parents house and they are good company. I love them, they are so sweet. My friend whose going to be my roommate doesn't mind pets, she's even said to bring one of them w/ me when I move in with her. Hmm... you think it will cause trouble... I know how to potty train real good. But, then again, I'm a college student and rarely have any time...

If they were bred for hunting, don't you think the ears would get caught in things?

I have a 6 week old Schnauzer with what I believe to be an umbilical hernia about the size of small grape. It seems to not cause any pain ect.... How old does my puppy have to be to get it repaired? I am taking the puppy to the vet this week to get his shots....can I get it done then, or does anything even have to be done? The breeder did disclose the problem to me, but she herself has no experiece in dealing with hernias.
Thanks

I bought 2 dwarf hamsters a month ago, and they lived together without any problems. The male was slightly larger than the female at that time. They lived in the same house, even slept side by side inside their house w/o problems.I saw them last week w/ the male trying to hump the female but not really sure if they have mated since she squeals with protest each time he does that..Now the female is almost his size, and has now become more aggressive to the male! She keeps on scratching him when they bump into each other and he just freezes and she stops (no biting though) like he lets her go her way. She's hoarded lots of seeds and pellets in their house, and doesnt even want the male hamster to come into their house!Even when she's eating on the food dish the male cant even come close as she gets agitated! Could she be pregnant? I dont see any obvious bulges or anything. What should I do?

I have a new kitten and he is extremely playful. i have many bites and scratches on my arm from where he chased my hand around. I have alot of string for him to play with and he loves it.. but tonight i let him run around in circles a few times to try and catch it. when i stopped spinning the string, he would walk off and kind of topple over like he was drunk or something. so is it possible that cats can get dizzy too?

I walk everyday at a park, which has a pond. This pond has many ducks. Lately I have been watching them bop their heads up and down, and then wag their tails and whole body. Sometimes, many ducks do it at the same time. What does this mean?

I have 2 black labs that I have had for 7 years. At our old house, we let them sleep in the living room and chew on firelogs. Now taht we've moved, they destroy my room. We have nowhere else to put them. The neighbors complain if we put them outside, and we have no extra rooms. So far they have destroyed over $9,000 worth of things. I can't train them, they're too old. Chewy toys don't work becasue they destroy them too quickly. I don't want to give them away but I think I might have to because I dont' know what else to do. They only chew things when I'm not around, so when I come in to see the damage and punish them, they have no idea what they did wrong. Some advice please?

My room-mates' cat is very young, only 8 months old, and we're all wondering whether she could be pregnant. She recently was let out of the house, and was gone for about four days. We're not sure, mostly because her symptoms before she left were very...un-heat-like. There was yowling, yes, but not an excessive rubbing or spraying, or even any additional flightiness like most of the cats I've owned exhibit during their heat.

My questions are basically: is she old enough to possibly be pregnant?

Could she have been in heat, most likely her first, without some of the typical symptoms?

(And, yes, I do know how to tell when a cat is pregnant, at about four to five weeks. My mother was a vet. tech and taught me how to feel for the fetuses, as well as the fact that I've read on the subject before asking this.)

A puppy my family recently purchased will be here at the end of the month. When I asked the breeder about the puppy's food, he responded that he would not be providing the food fed to the puppy in the shipping. If I wanted to feed the puppy another brand of food, that I should use Kaolin-pectin to avoid diarrhea the puppy will probably have from the quick transition of the food. After reading some articles, it seems that it may have a side effect on humans, but not on dogs.

The puppy is currently being fed MAX® LARGE BREED PUPPY (Apparently, even though the puppy will not grow to be a large breed, it has: "a lot of vitamins & antioxidants that help support the immune system.") I'd like to switch the puppy to Innova Puppy Dry.

Is it okay to use kaolin pectin for my 2 month old future puppy? For people who have used it on their dogs, does it have side effects? Should I just purchase the same brand the puppy is eating now and slowly mix it in from there?

Relevant answers please.

Lloydiella, any experience with this, I saw one today and thought it might look nice. I read about people having to pull it out and prune off the bottom periodically? Could it be easily propigated?

Secondly, would anything bad happen if I introduced duckweed to my aquarium?
