I have just recently agreed to take 2 Bloodhounds from a woman whose husband died. They are almost 2 years old and brothers so I couldn't seperate them. However I have never owned a Bloodhound and don't know too much about the breed(i have 2 basset hounds). If anyone has some general info on a Bloodhound it would be greatly appreciated.

I have never had one, but I would think that you would have to keep them leashed at all times, keep their wrinkles clean, and keep their barking to a minimum.

The new owner of a Bloodhound will need to have plenty of patience and to possess great tact for training to succeed. The most important consideration is to be consistent - these dogs know full well how successfully they can get around with a pathetic look and make use of it to get their own way. Do not expect too much by way of obedience from this dog - they are naturally gentle animals but they do have minds of their own and will often make their own decisions rather than following your orders.

They are outdoor dogs first and foremost. Don't make good inside dogs. They are hunting dogs so they are high energy dogs that can run racoons all night long. So you are going to have them Howling at night a lot which is natural for them. But good dogs and good watch dogs. They will definitely let you know when someone is around.
If you are not going to hunt them be prepared to be doing alot of walking and running with them.

bloodhounds have to be trained, not the same persona on TV (Beverly Hillbilly's, any southern described hillbilly movie) So please do some major research Asap or have an idea to give them lots of attention or to a rescue in the area.
