I have a new kitten and he is extremely playful. i have many bites and scratches on my arm from where he chased my hand around. I have alot of string for him to play with and he loves it.. but tonight i let him run around in circles a few times to try and catch it. when i stopped spinning the string, he would walk off and kind of topple over like he was drunk or something. so is it possible that cats can get dizzy too?

I would say so....kittens are fun but don't over exert te poor little bugger too much, make the string go slowly in a straight line so that your kitty can practise pouncing as well as running around crazy in circles....alternate between the two and you shouldn't have a dizzy kitty anymore

Yes cats can get dizzy too - it just takes a little longer for a cat than for a human or a dog

I always feel dizzy when I run around in circles. Plus it seems that lately, I seem to be doing the circle dance all the time anymore. Around and around I go. Hopefully, I will get off this crazy Merry Go Round soon. :o)

I think just like ice-skaters, older cats get desensitized or can adjust to spinning/dizziness so that's why older cats don't get as dizzy.

It's all caused by fluid in your head... Humans and cats both got the fluid

Yes, they have an inner ear just like we do. If he runs around in circles, it upsets his inner ear fluid and causes him to walk around like a little drunk for a moment or two. It doesn't hurt him, just don't do it too often. If he gets too rambunctious and starts biting and scratching you, you need to get him to stop. Scruff him like his mom does (grab the loose skin on the top of his neck) when he bites or scratches you and tell him no firmly. Do this a few times and he will get the idea. If you let it continue, when he gets bigger, he will really hurt you.l

just send them spinning back the other way to balance it out.
If you want us dizzy though, we prefer a few Vodka tonics.

Use a laser pointer and spin the dot around their body on the floor over and over and watch the fun begin.
