I have a mixed breed male that is between 15 and 18 years old. I can tell that it is getting harder for him to get around and lately he has been making messes in the house no matter how many times a day I let him out. I'm going to try putting him in a cage when no one is around even though he has been house broken for years. Is it cruler to cage him up or have him put down?

Is there any way of telling if a 5 month old puppy has had its first shots yet? I got the puppy from a woman 5 days ago...she said that she is spayed and had up to date on shots. But i got to thinking about it 2 days ago and so i called her to see if i can get a vet record but she wont answer the phone.

He is 13 weeks old and 15 ounces. Anyone know what he will weigh as an adult? I know standard Yorkies will grow to be 7 lbs or less, but he is tiny. I'm just asking if anyone knows from experience. Thanks.

I know my cat is still using his litterbox. I have heard of cats spraying things to mark their territories but normally I heard of them lifting their tail and actually spraying. Anyway my cat has peed on my blankets a few times and one of my bags. I was gone for one night and came back the next day and when I was home on my computer he peed on my chair three times. I got that one from a garage sale. He just squats down and does it. What are the best products to completely remove the smell he has an appointment to be neutered in two days. What else should I be asking my vet when I go there? I would like my apartment to be as free from his smell when he returns so he doesn't start up again. Why would he be squatting and just urinating on my things and not doing the point-spray thing?

My 2.5 year old APBT has had ear problems. He had his ears cleaned when he was at the SPCA being neutered. I didn't get to speak to the vet there and all that was written on his papers was that he had "yellow-brown debris" in his ears that did not look like mites (his regular vet told us he had mites but she was also standing like 6ft away from him to check his ears. Needless to say, he won't be returning to see her!) They said that they applied Malotic to his ears and we could get some from a regular veterinarian. All the places that I've called say that they don't carry Malotic -- only Otomax. Is there a difference between the two?

His ears smelled really bad, had yellowish crust, and he sounded like he had fluid in them when he shook. They were also very sensitive to touch. What could have caused this?

He has, for the most part, always let me know when he has to go out. For a while now he's begun to wet on the carpet, usually in my studio and almost always on anything plastic. Why is this and what can I do to stop him? He doesn't have any medical problems and I'm always home with him. The vet doesn't seem to know what the problem is either. Can anyone help me? And, please, no rude answers. This is serious and I'm getting tired of having to have the carpets cleaned all the time.

I posted another question asking how to get my dog to stop barking, and quite a few people recommended special collars that teach the dogs how to bark.

Has anyone used these? Can you recommend any brands?

Please answer based only on experience and not a Web search.

Pits are not banned in our city (I know they are in some) Our apartments have come under new mangemnet and have told us we have to get rid of our dog, even though we paid our pet deposit, because of her breed we had to sign a waiver that we were responsible for all of her actions. The new manager said it was illegal to have her. She is like my child and not in the least aggresive. She gets along with everyone, and she is well socialized. She is not animal or people aggresive. As a matter of fact her best friend is my mom's miniture toy poodle. I have always been around pits and have never had one turn or be aggresive, I make sure that I show them enough love and make sure they are well taken care of. My dog stays in the bathroom when noone is there that way if someone came in while noone was there, she wouldn't be scared and they wouldn't be scared. and she goes with us as often as she can. What rights do I have to fight this until i can find another place to live?

My dog grabbed a bite sized kit-kat bar from the halloween candy bowl. I was attempting to get it away from her, she just about bit me, and before I knew it she swallowed the thing wrapper and all!!
She's a lab/shepehrd mix and is healthy. I think she'll just pass it. I've known dogs to pass other things like paper and stuff.
What do you think?

My 4 month old kitten is very cooperative for shampooing, and I find it necessary to do because a fresh shampoo leaves me without allergy symptoms for about 4 days. But I'm concerned that shampooing him too often may inadvertantly hurt him in some way. Anyone know if twice a week is too often?
