Is there any way of telling if a 5 month old puppy has had its first shots yet? I got the puppy from a woman 5 days ago...she said that she is spayed and had up to date on shots. But i got to thinking about it 2 days ago and so i called her to see if i can get a vet record but she wont answer the phone.

the vet would have made sure she was up to date when he/she spayed to dog..they check for worms and shot records.
If you go to the vet's office with the dog, to show that you now have custody, the office will make a copy of the records for you..
Get your dog a booster on her birthday, and you should be fine for a while..

If you know who the vet is, call them. If you know where she lives, don't call just go over there and ask her. Be nice but ask for the name of the vet.
Sounds like the pup hasn't had anything. If she has been spayed, you should be able to see a scar in the middle of her tummy when you lay her on her back. Hold her like she was a baby and check her belly for a scar. If you don't get the vets name or the records, make an appointment with a vet and take her in and ask about shots and if he can tell if she has been spayed.
Good luck

It does not matter if shots a repeated , if you have no record any reputable vet will give the first seires of shots unless you have proof that the pup has already been inoculated already. It really is no big deal but he does need to go in because at 4 months he will have to have had a rabbies shot and as you say he is already 5 months, he should also be started on heartworm Meds every month . Just be safe and now that he is your pup take him in and let him get to know the vet. He should need to be nuetered or (spayed) soon and will need a few other shots within the first year .........good luck

theres no way of telling that your pup has had her shots. i would think that she hasnt and also that she hasnt been spayed either its a bit young. youll be able to see if shes recently been spayed by looking at her stomach there should be a very visible scar also make sure her stitches have been removed. if theres no sign of a scar roughly up to possibly 2 inches long then the lady you got her from is telling fibs to put it nicely. its sound as though she full of ****. have your vet check your pup and get her vaccinations done asap.

Your vet can definitely tell if the dog is spayed (5 months is awfully young). If the woman told the truth about that, then likely she told the truth about the shots.

Many Vets initiate the photographs sequence over while they have not got documentation of photographs gained or if the photographs have been all started too early. merely tell the Vet the documents you realize (like while the breeder reported that they had their photographs, yet which you have not got evidence and are not confident), and the Vet will advise the suitable schedule for vaccinations based on the puppies age, wellbeing. I have been given a defend domestic dog that each physique started photographs very youthful and while her 2d set become due, the Vet had to initiate the sequence over. So, your Vet supplies you help to with this.

Don't vaccinate your dog unless you are legally obliged to.

Do NOT get vaccinated.

A vaccinated dog or person is MORE likely to get a disease than a non-vaccinated dog or person. The whole theory of vaccination is flawed. It causes a weakening of the immune system thus making those who are innoculated more susceptible to disease.
There are so many awful side effects to vaccination that it should be considered extremely dangerous.
Just sit back and think for a while.
Is there any sense in injecting a disease directly into your body.
We have been subjected to an awful mind control program to enable the drug manufacturers to make a fortune.

usually, if a vet is unsure, they'll just revaccinate. It would be better if you could get a hold of the woman, this way you could have all the information.
You may want to have your vet double check to make sure she was spayed too.

There is no way of knowing without getting a copy of the vet records. If you can't find proof of vacciantion then you will need to start the series over again.

do you know her name? call all the vets in the area and ask if she's in their files. if she has been vetted, it's customary to get the paperwork for proof. take her to the vets though. if that woman does still have paperwork, she might just need a temp. home and the dog is still in her name and she can come back and claim the dog. take her for acheck up and get her licensed so she's in your name.
