I know my cat is still using his litterbox. I have heard of cats spraying things to mark their territories but normally I heard of them lifting their tail and actually spraying. Anyway my cat has peed on my blankets a few times and one of my bags. I was gone for one night and came back the next day and when I was home on my computer he peed on my chair three times. I got that one from a garage sale. He just squats down and does it. What are the best products to completely remove the smell he has an appointment to be neutered in two days. What else should I be asking my vet when I go there? I would like my apartment to be as free from his smell when he returns so he doesn't start up again. Why would he be squatting and just urinating on my things and not doing the point-spray thing?

I know this doesn't answer all of your questions but what I have found that works REALLY well to get rid of cat urine odor in just using a simple solution of water with vingar diluted in a spray bottle works wonders. Try to wipe or blot as much of the pee as much as you can then mist with the solution. Let it dry then whola! You can also do this to things that you can machine wash as well just put vingar in the machine along with your wash and it will work too! I hope this helps.

My male cat was doing the same thing. He would urinate on clothes, my bedding, my furniture. I figured that it was just a behavioral issue. I eventually took him to the vet to have a urinalysis done on him and see if maybe he had diabetes or something like that. Turns out he as FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) which is actually common in males cats. He has been off and on antibiotics for 8 months and was on Perscription Diet C/D until recently. Since his urine is still alkaline and there is still the presense of the struvirate crystals in his urine we are switching him to Perscription Diet S/D. This is something that hopefully will be cured soon, but it is something that is very serious. The reason he was doing it in the open was because he was trying to tell me that something was wrong. If I had just let it continue, he could have died from a blocked ureathra. I would take your cat to the vet to be on the safe side and gave him tested for diabetes, FLUTD, or something else.

I also have found that using Nature's Miracle works well in removing the smell of the urine.

I hope this helps!

could be a couple different things...

1) you arent keeping his box clean enough (try cleaning it out everday and if the litter is to expensive to actually empty everyday then sift through it and then put a little baking soda in the box to give the kitty the sense the litter has been changed)

2) male cats mark their territory, doesnt matter how...they will do it until you get them fixed

3) the cat was probably upset that you went away over night and left him alone - remember cats are fineky and tempermental

The pet store carries a product that has enzymes in it to help remove urine odors. The best thing also would be to catch him doing it and spray him with a water bottle to let him know this isn't acceptable. Mine is a female and she does it from time to time, but I think we've finally broken her of it. Also, you could try a vacuum store, there used to be this really great stuff, can't remember name, but it completely removed all sorts of odors including urine and amonia, you could smell the strong amonia, they would spray on this stuff and you couldn't even detect a hint of it, it worked great, that would be your best bet first, then if all else fails, try the pet store.

Good luck.
