go to petfinder.com.....this is a site for rescue groups.....just enter your Zip code, and be AMAZED at how many great choices you have !!.....i recently adopted a Great Pyrenees mix from them, and my dog Sylvester is awesome !!.....check it out.....try it.....do a good deed.....adopt a sheltie today!!!.....good luck to you, in your search for a Shetland Sheepdog as a new pet !!!!.....most adoptions run between $ 50 to $ 200 maximum, for a wonderfull dog, that will be very happy to be your new pet !!!

Sheltie Breeders In Virginia

Kyleah breed Shetland Sheepdogs & are based in Fairfax County.

I also found these breeders that are in Virginia - but I'm not too sure where:
http://www.sparkshire.com/
http://www.shadymist.com/
http://www.mindspring.com/~heartogold/index.htm

And I believe that the Blue Ridge Shetland Sheepdog club is based in Virginia - I'm sure that they'd be only too willing to offer help & advice. One of their pages also gives information on Sheltie Rescue.

Best wishes

Go to petfinder.org-there are lots of shelties and mixes there to adopt. I am not from your area-just do your research before buying from a breeder. Be very picky-they should be picky with you as well.

Many breeders have websites now. It is an acceptable way to brag and to let people know you have pups. Having said that, I would contact the parent group of your breed for a list of things that you need to know. Any good breeder will not get angry with you. They will explain what they have done, what they do not do and why. Up to you to determine if they are good or not good match for you. Ask for references, previous buyers of their pups, contact them.

I would suggest going to the American Shetland Sheepdog association website http://www.assa.org/ or going to AKC http://www.akc.org. Both have different information about breeders and also you can look at the breeders website to see the puppies that have came from the dogs to make your decision.
