Dogs don't menstuate, per se, in the same sense that human females do, but there can be a discharge of blood when the dogs are in heat. Dogs generally come into heat twice a year (every 6 months), but can have "split seasons" and come into heat every three months. Premenopausal, fertile human females menstruate once a month.

yes, it is the same thing! a dog is in heat 4 weeks and can bleed like us! mixed dogs usually come in heat the first time at age 6-8 months and have it every 6 months! full blooded dog usually come into heat at 1 year and have it once a year! this is a good way in telling if you dog is full blooded! Hope i helped you out!:)

We're both mammals but different. They only go menstruate twice a year but for a longer period of time. Their ovulation happens at some point during the cycle (I used to know how many days in but I've forgotten) making them fertile only twice a year. Then too, their pregnancies only last around nine weeks instead of nine months.

when a dog is in heat shes looking for a male to make her have puppies. its the same thing with humans. having the period is getting rid of the egg. (which is why there is blood all over the place)
