My cat had six kittens last night. Today we lost one and discovered that four of them each had one hind leg wrapped in an umbilical cord. They were attached to each other. I managed to cut the cord so they could all be detached from each other but there has been some circulation damage to two of the kittens. Both kittens have one hind leg that is extreamly swollen and limp. It seems they show symptoms of "twisted foot" but I know that what happend occured after birth. What do I do to help my kitten's recover?

if a wgsd has all of the characteristics of purebreed-black lips, nose, etc. and is all white except for tan lining each ear (almost looks like "ear" liner drawn on-very thin), is it still a purebreed?

I have a lone Zebra Danio that I got a few months ago (the others died). He is too aggressive for my community tank and I have had to move him to a one gallon tank (all that I have availible and I don't have room for another fully set up tank so don't say get a bigger one). I know this is cruel to keep him alone - I know, groups of three or more - but am afraid to return him to the scary pet shop that I bought him at. It's a fish concentration camp, but the next closest fishstore is more than 40 minutes away. I don't have friends or relatives that will take him. I was thinking my best bet is a little 1.5 gallon tank I own - if I can figure out how to filter it. If I get him two friends will he be ok in there? Also, I don't want other Zebra Danios - but I would do it if I have to for Chaos. Can I get other fish that will school with him? I heard something about Pearl Danios...

I have a 5 year old girl, a small lot and I'm not always able to get home in the middle of the day (althought i usually can). I prefer larger breeds. I prefer long hair to short and am looking for a middle of the road temperament. Not too hyper (black lab would not work), not too mellow. I've been thinking about a Leonberger, but I've heard that they really like to be muddy. Do you know of anyone that has a leo that doesn't get muddy, but is still happy?

Also been thinking about a Golden. There is an excellent breeder in town (just won best in breed at Westminster). I just wonder if a Golden would be too active, and be totally bored during the day when we're all gone.

The good news is that I'm getting a laptop for work and we just began using a VPN which means I can start doing more work from home.

If you've got other ideas, I'd love to hear.

My cat thats a Tonkanese bounces off the walls as it is and she is only 9-12 months old (we found her). So because she is so young and she is already racing like a Indy car at such a young age, should I expect her to get faster and more destructave later?

If yes, around what age do u think?

I'm afriad that my kitten is very ill. I went to the vet twice worried about her. I told him there was blood in her stool and that she had been coughing last week. There hadn't been any more blood, but the coughing was worse so I took her again today and he told me she had allergies. Just a few minutes ago she vomited under my bed and there was a lot of bloody/mucusy stool in the litter box. She was very lethargic and after she used the box I am so worried. Please tell me any possible ailments this might be, the progression of the diseases and what I can to do help her until I can take her back to the vet in the morning. It's 11:33 here.. and I don't plan on sleeping tonight. She's since become a bit more playful. She's 2 months old and she has been dewormed, and as far as I know, she has had the proper vaccinations. Who knows with the guy I'm working with now.
Please help!

My dog and I have been traveling quite alot lately and she seems to take an hour to poop and it is a small amount for a 60 pound dog. I can tell she is working hard for it to happen but there is no results to speak of. She is eating well and drinking well.

I felt sorry for a stray cat, and bought it in for the past two nights to find it a home. I already have a cat, who is my baby, and I am worried about any diseases the other cat may be able to pass on to my cat. I was going to be getting her shots this week (for my cat), so she is not up to date on some of her vaccines yet. What are the chances of her catching something dangerous from a stray who appears to be healthy? I plan on calling the vet tomorrow and make her vaccine appointment tomorrow, but I am worried it might be too late. Do not tell me I am a bad owner, I planned on getting my cat her shots, and will do so still. I love my cat, and want to make sure I do everything I can to keep her safe. We did keep the cats seperated, but the other kitten cried all night. Also, anything they can pass each other by sharing food dishes/litter box/ living quarters or scratching? Sorry if I sound paranoid, just a worried "mom".

Unfortunately, there is no way I can swing $380 per month. I was told that there really are not other allergy drugs for dogs. The other options are Benadryl which only masks the condition and steroids which are not safe for long term use. My dog was on 15 days of steroids which made a huge difference, but now for the long term my vet recommended the Atopica. Has anyone heard of any other allergy drugs for dogs?

Every now and then our 7-month-old kitten will bite a bit during play or petting. This rarely seems to be a "stop" request, it's never at all hard, and isn't accompanied by a hiss or effort to go away. She's into doing it a few times while licking us, too.

While it's not even bordering on painful, I wonder how cute it'll be in a year, and generally walk away when it happens. Or tap her on the nose if it came as a less-than-affectionate surprise.

Her adoptive father, on the other hand, has no problem with it, and will use his hand as a bitable, scratchable, cat toy.

I note that this problem seems to be common among men. (See "Jaspurr's Dad Teaching Bad Habits" on http://cats.about.com/cs/behavioralissues/a/bite_scrat.htm &c)

Can she figure out who it's okay to bite and not bite? Will it lead to problems later on if we let her bite her father? Is it at all reasonable to think that said nips will always be the pressure-free painless things they are now?
