I have or should I say HAD 2 fire bellied toads. One of them is suddenly gone. The lid is not tight, but it never has been tight &
they have never escaped....or what seems like trying to escape.

I am curious if one toad ate the other..... anyone know FOR SURE???

Although large toads can and will often eat smaller toads, if they are relatively the same size this has not happened. Toads have a sneaky way of slipping through small areas so it is more likely that he escaped. (or worse, was stolen) Sorry about your toad :(

I have 3 toads and have had them for almost two years. I have never heard of them eating one another, mine never even injur one another. If you have any other pets in the house maybe they got to them. I know my cat loves to watch them by laying on their lid.

Yeah try giving him some live food, crickets like you said or also live mealworms or bloodworms. Seeing the food moving around should get him more excited to eat. Also bugs that are alive let out certain smells and sounds that will excite the predator in your frog. :) You can get live bugs at most pet stores.
