Do your treat your baby like a dog?
I'd hope not. And, you should treat your dog like a dog. You are the master, he is the dog.
If you wish to raise an obedient and well-mannered pet, treat him like he is accustomed to. Dogs are pack animals, anwering to the leader of their "pack". You must assert yourself as the master or your dog will end up being his own master and be uncontrollable.
Enroll in a pet obedience class.

I treat them like kids, but try not to baby them. They don't get what they want without doing something for it first; like for instance when my dog goes to the kitchen and starts whining at the cupboard because he wants a treat I call him over to me and make him sit and then we both go into the kitchen and he gets his treat.

oh yes!!! last year, i was called to jury duty, and there were a bunch of older people around me telling the judge how many kids they had, boy or girl, ages, and when it was my turn, i told them i had a three year old yorkie! he is sooooo my baby. you can tell from my icon pic... that's him. he has gym clothes, hanging out clothes, sweater and costumes. he gets bathed, clipped and his teeth are brushed regularly, just like a real baby. i hope your question was legit... and not one to find out who out there is kooky. my husband and i haven't decided if we want kids yet, but anytime someone asks if i have kids, i say, 'yes, i have a yorkie'. i even call him on my way home from work just to talk on the machine so he can hear me, we have a dog sitter that comes twice a day just so he won't be too lonely. he's got music, toys, and all the love he can get. he has a stroller, and 4 different carriers.. he even sits in the front seat when my husband drives so that he won't be alone in the backseat. i put a thick blanket/pillow and we fasten his seat belt up front, while i have the whole backseat to myself! he's my baby....

thesupers sounds like he has been watching too much of the Dog Whisperer!!!
Yes, I treat my dog like a baby. He is spoiled and gets whatever he wants and if he doesn't, he barks until he does..............
My sister keeps saying he needs some obedience training. I keep telling her designer dogs are never trained. He is a brat and I love him.
I can't get started on all the cute things he does or I will ramble on for hours.

um no. i treat her like a person. she stays inside most of the time, has a bed, a doggie dsh with her name on the side and where ever the family goes she goes (as long as she is allowed) she is placed on punishment from the doggie park when she misbehaves and rewarded when she does good. my mom treats her tea cup poodle like a baby though.
