The thing that bugs me the most is when she licks the carpet. Help!!!

Dogs, like humans, suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). In dogs specifically OCD is usually characterised by excessive licking. It is very akin to the chronic thumb-sucking child, often a symptom of insecurity.
I would suggest taking him to your vet and trying out some medicine for OCD. These drugs have few side effects, but can take up to 2 months before they begin to work. Also behavior modification drugs have to be adjusted frequently to make sure that your animal is receiving the correct dose and the correct drug for your animal.
Behavior drugs are somewhat of a guessing game at times and often several drugs and doses have to be tried before you can get the results you want..
You might first try to avert the action from licking, to chewing..Provide a good choice of chew toys, such as the Kong, that really catches their interest..and be creative with the 'stuffings' that you put in it..you might just get the habit changed to chewing instead of licking..

I believe there is available a bitter-tasting spray that is intended for that very purpose. Spray it on the stuff she licks and it should teach her that its not a good idea.
...unless she likes the spray, which I've heard of happening.
Otherwise, I'd have to say that you'll need to watch her and discipline her somehow as she is licking...thats the only way I know of to effectively train dogs.

when she licks something and you catch her you need to go to her and tell her NO and why don't you try using a drop of hot sauce on the end of a Q-tip and touching it to the end of her tongue. She won't like it but it won't hurt her and she should stop really soon

2nd umm the bitter apple stuff tastes like soap
and 3rd the bitter apple stuff maynot be concentrated enuff for her to stop soidk butt if that doesnt work try putting some vinegar
