Dogs don't have menstrual systems. It's called going heat or season, and spaying will eliminate that, as well as lowering the dog's risk to several types of cancer.
edit to add: There's nothing wrong with asking questions if you don't know :-) Just forgive my typing errors that spell check seems to miss :-)
Congratulations on the new puppy, too.

as all the previous answers said, the process of spaying is the removal of the uterus and ovaries plus anything having to do with reproduction. Now, you should know this, some, not all, SOME female dogs actually get meaner after being spayed. Contrary to popular belief, spaying or neutering does NOT always calm the dog down. Mostly in females, the aggression level can actually escalate especially if there is another female in the pack.

First, dogs do not have a menstrual cycle. They come in heat about twice a year. Spaying will stop all of that because they take out the uterus and ovaries.

Well yes, spaying your dog will completely stop her menstrual cycle (which is good thing because that's very messy and unpleasant to deal with). When you spay your female you are removing her reproductive organs.

Spaying is taking out the reproductive organs in the dog. So, thre will be no more heat. When you get her spade, do it about 6 months old before she goes into her 1st heat

Your dog will no longer bleed and get blood from being in heat. Your dog will not be able to have puppies. Your dogs health will be so much better and she will be happier. There are too many dogs out there without homes now. Please spay your dog.

Umm, yes. Spaying is an ovariohysterectomy, a complete removal of both the ovaries and uterus. Therefore, the dog will no longer have a heat cycle, be susceptible to uterine infections, ovarian cancer, pregnancy, or other hormone related diseases. Also, dogs do not menstruate, they go into estrus. This is different from what people do.
