I recently brought home a new dog. I already have 3 dogs. Two of the current dogs get along fine with the new dog but the third (my alpha) is looking for fights with the new dog. The new one already lays down and backs off whenever the alpha comes around but my alpha continues to look for fights. My question is roughly how long does it take before my alpha stops looking for fights? I've owned multiple dogs before but they all got along with no real issues before. This time, its a little different. So, how long does it take before my alpha stops caring about the new dog's prescense??

and I'm taking it really hard and don't want another dog for awhile. but my hubby wants one ASAP to deal with it. My way to deal with it is that I got my dog's head tattooed on my ankle but he says the only way he can deal is if we get another dog. what should I do?

Might be silly...maybe everyone knows but me? What I'm wondering is...when a male dog gets neutered...I know he can no longer get a female dog pregnant...BUT...does he no longer get physically aroused (excuse the language but..."*****"?) when a female dog is in heat? Does he become disinterested, or is he still interested but he cant actually make puppies? Thanks to all serious answers!

i have an 8 month old pit that i keep indoors along with 2 other dogs and sometimes i want my dogs just to go out in the backyard and hang out for awhile, play, use it, relax, my other dogs are fine with this but my 8 month old pit has a problem, we let him out and he will take care of his business and then barks and keeps barking wanting back inside. i like to let them out especially when we are cleaning or eating but he interrupts us and i dont know how to make him quit, any suggestions please

Mandy has been living with my family for 18 mos. She has certainly come a long way but I am not able to successfully capture her without scars. I have to get her to a vet b/c I think she has a urinary tract infection. She has been soiling my rugs constantly & always used the litter along with her sister & my male cat. Please help with any advice. I have become scared of a little "scaredy cat".

i'm a total novice,, i bought a 50gal aquarium last week. there are 4 parrots and 4 smaller fish living in it since wednesday. i have loads of air pumped in and a filter on 24 hrs a day, but the tank is starting to stink already and the water is starting to cloud.... is this normal and just needs very regular cleaning, or might i be doing something wrong?????

Also my fish seem to freak out when i turn their light on,, do parrots prefer the shade??

Today was rainy and my dog was getting a bit muddy when 3 people showed up with their dogs. They were dressed as if they had been to church (it was Saturday though) and I worried that my dog would jump up on them, but she didn't. I asked if they were new to the park and they asked how I knew so I told them that most people wear old clothes and they were lucky my dog was being so good.

I was walking my dog in the woods the other night and it was getting dark. There was a man walking about 100 yards behind me and I started walking faster because I was sort of nervous. Do you think that if anyone tried to attack me my dog would protect me or do you think that just by having my dog with me would deter any attack?

I have two grown cats then brought in a kitten (a stray) now one of my two other cats is hissy towards her and growls - just plain mean. It hasen't gotten any better since a month ago when we brought the kitten in! Now the grown cat is throwing up and pooping in bedrooms and acting strange- what should I do? should I get rid of the cat and the kitten- bring the cat to the vet? what? Oh yeah- I should mention that my 5 year old is completely in love with the kitten and the cat that we've had for a while- HELP!!

We adopted a rescue dog from the humane society and purchased a wire crate for her. She absolutely hates getting in the kennel and being in it no matter what we do. We entice her with treats and put a comfortable bed in there with her. She actually was able to get out of the kennel a couple of times. After seeing how she acted outside of the kennel when we were gone, we decided to leave her out of the kennel. It was nice for about a week and she didnt do anything wrong until last night. She tore up a few things in the house, but nothing really expensive. I decided to start putting her in the kennel again because of this. We went to the store for a couple hours earlier today and came back to find her in the kennel but she tore up the plastic flooring and banged up the cage pretty bad. She is a 35-40 lb lab mix. How can I get her to like the kennel or stop her from tearing stuff up in the house?

I came home from work and saw the cleaning person on the floor and my pup was licking her down there, full blown, what happens to animals when things like this happen, it looked like they were into it. how sick is that! How can this happen? Intelligent, serious answers please, I'm very upset

I used to have a cat, but he ran away. must have wanted to explore the place, but something most definetly have happen to him. it's been years ago. I'm a cat lover, a huge one, i always feel better talking tocats. even if they can't understand human speech, they can tell by the tone just as we can.
