Chloecat...i did not ask for opinions...i asked for a figure. I have 3 adopted mixed breeds already and am a frequent petfinder user. This was simply a question out of curiosity.

It depends on if they are pet quality or show quality. Usually $500 or more.

You will love your new cat. You can get either a kitten or a cat -- if you get a cat, make sure that it's one that actually likes people (not all cats do). If you get a kitten, get one that's 13+ weeks old, old enough to eat solid food. It's better to get a kitten that has been handled by people rather than a feral kitten. You haven't said anything about your living situation. If your cat is going to be an indoor pet, you will need one of those scratching post/house combos -- you know, a tube covered with carpet leading up to a little house for the cat. You will also need some toys for your cat to play with. Get him or her spayed/neutered at age 6-8 months -- if you don't he or she may run away. A spayed/neutered cat will last you 16 years, more if you're lucky.

Look on petfinder.com because there are many specialty breed rescue groups and you could probably find a great one at a much lower cost than paying a breeder, and you'd be saving an animal without a home. I found my most recent two Siamese cats there, and they are perfect!

Seriously, use petfinder.com and if you're really that picky about the breed, search for the specific breed.
Just remember that purebred cats are the result of heavy inbreeding and often have more health problems than mutts.
Getting cats from breeders is criminal when there are SO many thousands of cats out there that need homes.
