I have a 55 gallon fresh water tank all non-agressive, community type fish. The water is fine ...no problems there. The temperature is right on. Yet, when I go to a PetCo store and buy .. say, a Goldburst Pladdy, and one other similiar kind of fish .. one of the two will die. I leave the bag in the water for 20 minutes as told .. before I release them .. right now, 2 from last night are alive, but one is at the top of the water .. staying in one place and did not swim over for food like the others do .. so I assume this fish will die soon. I have a small neon tetra in the tank as the "canary" to warn me if something else might be wrong ...as they tend to die the easiest .. he has been in the tank for 2 1/2 months .. no problem.. no problems with the other fish .. just new ones .. one out of two .. or two out of 3 new ones may die . Any ideas as to why this is happening ? Thank you .

My momma cat keeps bringing me her kittens. It is driving me nuts. She usually does it when I am trying to sleep. What should I do?

we just got a new kitten. She was a stray not quite weened completely from its stray mom. she was born in the country in my dad's garage. When we brought her home she adapted pretty quickly, she picked up quickly on the litter training and everything. She is hyper and always wants to play etc. I can not see what stress there would be in her life at all. I clean her litter box daily and change the letter weekly. So her box is clean and in an open location. But now she is starting to pee or mostly poop downstairs(everything for her is upstairs). We clean and then shampoo the carpet after every incident. I take her to her litter box after each time and after she eats and coach her to use it. She will sometimes, but other times she decides to misbehave. We even give her treat after she goes in the litter box. Help! We have a new house and do not want her to go anywhere but the liltter box! I do not understand!

We have been feeding him outside and he comes in through our cat flap on a night. He has now started coming into our garden when we are actually in it. Today, he has been in our house (by the patio doors) most of the day. The problem that we have, is that he won't allow us to handle him yet. If he has chosen to make our house his home, then we need to be able to flea him and care for him properly. He won't come close enough, to allow us to stroke him. How do we go about doing this? Also, how can we ensure that our cat doesn't feel left out? All good advice will be very much appreciated

I've had my male betta Hannibal for over a year now. He's never had any problems before, but since the last time I cleand his bowl, he can't seem to swim down. He's tried to, but he can't seem to! It's gotten to the point where he just lays on the top and the only way he can get down is if I force him down with my finger or a net.

What's wrong?

We are working with Best Friends Animal Society to change legislation in Ohio for the puppy mill industry. We need to unite as many groups as possible to help save and improve the lives of dogs who are trapped in the puppy mill industry.

I use frontline so I suppose it can't be a flea allergy, although the vets insist that it is. Any good ideas appreciated, she's allmost bald, and my house gets covered in hair.

So I have a small 2.5 minibow, with 2 small female platies and 1 small male platy, and a small betta, do I have to do something for them to mate, or will it eventually happen without me even knowing? Or do I have to do something special?? At my LPS, they said as long as I change the water more often, they should all fit in there ok...

I have a thermometer, that I got at wal-mart. One of those "Aqua-Culture" thermometers, in a tube with weights at the bottom and a suction cup at the top. But, I had that thermometer for 3+ years, and the suction cup rubber is all hard and stuff, and it eventually broke. How can I attach the thermometer to my tank without anything hideous or big? Do I have to submerge the whole tube? Is there anything I can use that will not put chemicals, rust or whatever into the tank? Thanks greatly.

My Betta has swim bladder disorder. I've heard it's common and will sometimes go away on its own, but does anyone know any remedies or how I can help him get better? He needs help. Thanks!

I have a very young guinea pig, Bella. She does not bite, but other that that, she is very anti-social. She ducks from being touched, she hates getting out of her cage.

I've only had her for two weeks. She "lives" in my classroom, but I take her home every weekend to hold her and sort of get her used to things, although she's still very skitterish.

Also, she does not eat treats of any kind...carrots, celery, parsley, etc. She doesn't really chew on any of the wood sticks and toys I got her, either. She only eats the grainy part of her food, not the fake cereal or the dried fruit. She loves Timothy Hay and Bermuda grass, though - she could eat that and be fine.

How can I encourage her to be friendly?
How can I get her to gnaw on things to keep her teeth healthy?
What are other treats that guineas like?
Is she getting enough vitamin C from the little pellets in her guinea pig food?

Thanks!

My orange striped kitten looks like she is turning purple in her legs and lower body. Her momma is keeping her warm and I also have a heating pad for her. Her brothers don't look purple, but one is black, and the other is black and white. She feels warm when I pick her up, but I am not sure what else to do for her. She is 10 days old. Any answers would be great! Thanks!
