You are feeding your bird the most expensive food there is. You can certainly wean your bird off Harrisons and onto another pellet that is less expensive. It's a process that can take a month or more, but most bird pellets are sufficient for the nutritional needs of your bird. Try a store like Petco or Petsmart. I get the best prices on food from www.featherfantasy.com. Make sure you feed your bird other foods as well.

Go to a pet shop you could buy a 20kg bag for around the same price, the vets ripping you off something a lot of them seem to be good at, there are some vets who don't do this i suggest you should try another vet.

Harrisons is currently one of the best foods on the market and it does cost a fortune.
You can see if you can get it cheaper directly from the manufacturer:
http://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/default.asp
I found that by the time I pay shipping, I'm not saving anything by buying it online and getting it from the vet is easier for me.
It is pricey though and my vet also suggests Roudybush
https://www.roudybush.com
Harrison's is probably the better food, but for the sake of cost, I switched to Roudybush and all of my birds seem to be doing well on it.
Best of luck!

That size is $35-$39 in the USA, or roughly £20. You aren't paying too much given the nuisance we go through:
We give our African Gray Lafeber Nutriberries, which we buy from http://www.petsmart.com/ for about £10 for 3.5 lbs and bring back to London from New York on regular trips.
In addition to that we give him the regular bulk parrot mix we get from a pet shop in Fulham, and also he wants his morning Weetabix and fresh fruit.

I feed mine on Harisons and its £15 for a huge, bag. I am based in Nottingham, UK and get the feed seed from Tudor Pets in Bulwell, Nottingham.
I don't think £15 per every 6 weeks is such a bad deal.
Besides Sammi is worth it as he is so beautiful and his feathers are beautiful and he's in perfect condition thanks to the nourishing seed.

Hi,
I can't help you with where to locate it cheaper, however may I recommend that everyone who feeds Harrison's, please remember to refrigerate it after opening.
It contains no preservatives.
Harrison't is an excellent extruded pellet, but it does need to kept in the fridge.
