I know that more recently people do it to be in keeping with the breed standard, but why did they do it originally. For instance, why did they dock Jack Russells tails, or Cocker Spaniels? And how did they do it and did it hurt the poor things? How do they do it today?

My 3 month old seems to be very healthy and very happy. Everyday though I seem to have to pick black fuzz-like boogers out of his nose. He gets a little bit in his eyes also, just like sleep-eye but it is dark. There's no eye drainage though, like he is sick, just a little bit of ****. The boogers in his nose seem to me to be like lint, Do you think he's picking this up from somewhere or is this coming from his body. I hope it's normal, never been a cat owner. And YES he is going to the vet in a couple weeks to get fixed so I will mention it there, just thought I'd talk with y'all first since I'm a new cat person

I've found smooth yellow caterpillars in my kitchen which has no windows, with no definite point of entry into my kitchen but don't know how to take care of the caterpillars before they can be moved to a suitable environment.

My son just bought a house. The people who lived there before had 5 dogs and a cat. How do I clean the house so that it doesn't bother my son's allergies? I have taken up the carpet in one bedroom and have tried to clean with pine type products including in between the tiles in the living room. The kitchen has a raised wood floor. We also air out the house, leaving all doors and windows open with the ceiling fans running on high for about 8 hours a day and have done this for 5 days so far. The air is much better (though not good enough) while everything is open but goes back to smelling not so good when we first come in after having the house closed up. What should I do?

Thanks so much.

Does anybody know a good website to show what injuries are caused when a bullmastiff bites someone?
I am being taken to court by a man who says that my bullmastiff bit him.It was not my dog, but I need to prove that it was not him. The guy has already asked for an out of court settlement. My solicitor says he is just after money.
The guy only needed 1 stitch in his bum.
My soliciter has told me, to print off some stuff from the internet to prove that if my dog bit him, he would have some serious injuries, not just a scratch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My cat is 3 months old and very tall and lean. He is a big eater and seems healthy. I thought he was a normal size but when my mother recently came to visit she said he seems really skinny. I can feel his ribs a bit and his hip bones are easily felt. Is this just cause he's young or should I worry? I volunteer at the humane society and the cats there all seem fat to me. is this how he should be?

I cannot believe this...After the ultimatum, which I should have gotten in writing, Amy is now requesting joint custody of Rory. She has moved in with her mom, and wants Rory on weekends. It is obviously some kind of control thing, but still it pisses me off. We broke up because she said either Rory or her, and now I have no idea what to do. I don't want trouble. I told her no way, but she seems to think she has some kind of legal way to do this. She was living with me for a couple of years, and yes I guess she paid for some of his food along the way....Please help...

I have a kitten that I think is around 3 months old and the vet won't fix him until he is 4 months. I am getting very nervous about him starting to spray because he seems like a very big cat and I'm thinking he may be older than they have said. What causes cats to stop spraying and what can I do to prevent it until I can get him into the vet to be neutered.
