My 3 month old seems to be very healthy and very happy. Everyday though I seem to have to pick black fuzz-like boogers out of his nose. He gets a little bit in his eyes also, just like sleep-eye but it is dark. There's no eye drainage though, like he is sick, just a little bit of ****. The boogers in his nose seem to me to be like lint, Do you think he's picking this up from somewhere or is this coming from his body. I hope it's normal, never been a cat owner. And YES he is going to the vet in a couple weeks to get fixed so I will mention it there, just thought I'd talk with y'all first since I'm a new cat person

This is normal and not to worry. Blach and icky brown discharge...are normal. Pussy yellow, white...even clear and runny should be watched. But what you are describing is very normal. The more flat faced an animal is, the more bulbous the eyes. Cats get "sleep" just like people. This is a part of their daily grooming. White and light colored cats especially show dark tears. This is especially common in breeds like Persians, Exotics, and Burmese.....but ALL cats get a little discharge. As long as eyes are clear and the discharge is brown and not gummy....you are fine. Your vet will explain all this. No worries

My cat, who is a little over a year old, has always had a discharge from her left eye and left nostril. My vet checked her over, and said there was no obvious reason for it in her case, some cats just have chronic sinus problems. It is a good thing you're taking her to the vet, though. There could be a lot of different reasons for it. That's so funny what you called her, because I affectionately call my kitty "booger nose" all the time! Her real name is "Daisy". Good luck! :)

Sometimes this can be cleared up by a simple phone call. If this kitten is a vet's patient and has been in for shots and worming, etc. you can probably pose your question by using voice mail or leaving a message with his receptionist. If you have an appointment for the neutering the vet will want to be sure the kitten is healthy before doing any surgery.

Your best bet is to get him to the vet, feline leukemia is a leading cause for death in cats, and is highly contagious. I really hope this is not the case for your new little baby, you will have to get it tested, and the vet will suggest this anyway.
What's the kitty's name, Take Care, and good Luck.

Don't let this discourage you from having other cats in the future, they are wonderful companions, I am sure he will be fine.

Sorry, not to make lite of a serious subject, but this made my day: "I am always picking out eye boogers and nose boogers from my herpes cats." SWEET, LOL!

sounds like it could be feline herpes. I am always picking out eye boogers and nose boogers from my herpes cats. go to walmart and go to the supplement isle and pick up some L-Lysine and give him 500mg per day. you should bring it up to the vet about feline herpes, though not many vets know too much or even anything about it. I was lucky that my vet figured it out just about the same time I did. I was actually calling the office to talk to him about feline herpes and he said that's what he felt they had.

My kitten has this too and it is normal. The stuff in his nose is soft food that dried up inside the nostrils.. theyre so tiny and they dont know how to prevent that yet. The stuff right below the eyes is from dried up fluids from the eye, like tears and maybe some stuff they get in their eyes from the air. It is completely normal. Just keep cleaning it away and he will be perfectly fine.

Feline leukemia can cause discharge from the eyes and nose. Has he been checked for the disease or vaccinated for it? If not get him checked before you take him to the vet because it is very contagious to other cats. It is also very common in outside cats.

Is it just a very little bit?
My cat used to get those... then it passed away. If you're worried, if the amount is not all that tiny... you may talk to your vet on the phone. But if the kitten is healthy and energetic, I wouldn't get myself worked up on feline leukemia, if I were you.
