I'm interested in the answer from a "personality type" perspective. Are artists more likely to own cats than other people? What about famous artists---have they owned cats more often than average?

The 5 month old 'Jezebel', as my husband calls her, is in heat. She is screeching all night long and trying to get her fixed brothers to 'service' her. She even seems to favor my husband's attention now. She was always pretty vocal, but this is RIDICULOUS! She won't shut up. She's getting fixed soon, but all of us are annoyed, even her brothers. How long does this last??? When will she stop being a "kitty of the night'?

I'm planning on buying myself a Great Dane pup. Not because I want a guard dog to protect our house, but because I am totally mesmerized by their sheer size!
Somebody told me Great Danes don't make ideal guard dogs, but that's okay with me.
Is it easy to raise a Great Dane puppy? Are these dogs loyal to their owners? What's the ideal cage size for Great Danes? Do large dogs need to eat more than smaller dogs? Are Great Danes high maintenance dogs? Is it true that these large dogs are just like Scooby Doo-big and tall, but are actually cowardly and scaredy-catlike in nature? Do they also drool like Rotts? What's the world-record for the tallest Dane?
I'd like to own a Great Dane because they just simply look Grand!
Do I have the right reasons for wanting a Great Dane?
:-)

Last night I went to feed my hamster like I always do and he was dead. My boyfriend told me that it was probably my fault because I had his cage on the floor where the cat could reach. He said Scooter (the hamster) probably got stressed and had a heart attack. If I had put the hamster higher, the cat could still jump up to him. No matter where I would have put Scooter, Jack (the cat) would still have access. I don't know what to do. I am so depressed now because I allowed a helpless animal in a cage get stressed. I allowed Scooter to die. He doesn't even look peacefull. He looks like something (jack) scared him. He looked normal till I opened the cage. He was in his sleep position, I opened the cage, and he usually wakes up, but he didn't move, then i looked, and his eyes were opened. I touched him and he was stiff. I couldn't stop crying. Its all my fault Scooter is dead. I had no idea that he could get stressed like that from the cat. This is so horrible, Is it my fault??

I have a 2.5 year old indoor cat and am thinking about getting a kitten. My cat is very active and I think he would enjoy a playmate. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks!

I read in a book that you can cook food for your dog like you cook food for yourself. Any suggestions?

My husband got me two rabbits for my birthday off craigs list. They are full grown and are slowly commming about. The original owner could not take care of them anymore. Is there any way to make them feel welcome, or less scared? I don't want them to be afraid of us forever.

I'm considering getting an english bulldog for a family pet, but from the homework I'm doing on them, they sound like they need to be more pampered than a human. Like they need things such as a full air-conditioned house because they overheat extremely easily (cant stand tempretures more than 75F degrees inside), and require an unusual number of other things like a 24hour vet and have a tendacy to mutilate themselves.
Is this true? P-L-E-A-S-E let me know, I really dont want to get a dog that will cost me more than it will to take care of my fionce and my kid.

I have a 5 month old Beagle. I take her out on the leash everyday, but instead of walking along side me, she stops to smell everything or wants to run ahead of me. I can't seem to get her and I on the same speed. I have one of those retractable leashes, but I keep it on a very short leash so she doesn't get used to wandering off on her own. Any suggestions would be helpful greatly appreaciated.

One of the females is constantly fighting with the other two birds. I want the birds to mate but doubt that any babies will hatch with the agrresive female in the cage. One of the females have laid two eggs last week. But were destroyed by one of the birds. I believe it was done by the aggressive female.

I've gotten him three scratching posts and laced them with catnip. He only likes one of them, and if I move that one to my bedroom, he ignores it and goes for the bed. Every time I catch him clawing the bed I clap my hands loudly and he runs away. I think he thinks it's a game that's pretty fun, but I really need him to stop. If I lock him out of the bedroom, then he claws on the door! He's driving me bananas.

I've had my 55 gallon fresh water tank with community fish in it for about 4 to 6 weeks now. I've changed the filters etc. But now it is time to do a partial water change. I have one of the larger models that suck up the rocks into the tube with the water .. but when I release the rocks, naturally, some of the junk is left behind and stays floating in the water for some time. No doubt this stresses the fish and might even kill one or two. How do you do a partial cleaning and avoid this from happening in your tank ? Or is there a way to lessen the problem ? Thank you ! :)
