What kind of food are giving him? What kind of plants are in the bowl with him? Try looking at the following site
http://www.bettatalk.com/food.htm - this one shows if the fish has eatten to much or is sick.

First of all, do you know how old the fish was when you got it? Betas only live about 2 years. He may not like the food you're feeding him. Try changing the water (make sure it's filtered water) and see if that makes a difference. Sometimes they get lethargic if the water isn't clean. In fact, the water should be changed about once a week or so.

I hope for your sake that Charlie will be okay.

I've had 3 Betas and my last one's name is Charlie also.

Try Getting a pair of female bettas it might liven him up and ther is less chance of him giving one female to much attention and then you be short a female.

Yep, bettas don't live all that long, he may just be getting old. You might try feeding some live food to perk him up, daphnia or brine shrimp. Hope that helps!
