She should be on a leash if she is an unfenced area. You cannot train an 11 week old puppy quickly enough to provide for her safety. It is your responsiblity to not allow her the chance to run off. At this point in time a retractable leash might be your best option. This way she will not feel the pull of the leash as she does her business....but will not be free to completely run off, either.

If you do not have a fenced in area for her to go out, then put her on a leash. You are putting her life in danger by not putting her on a leash she could run off and run in front of a car. Then also consider obedience training. There are several types of reliable recall methods, but when using them, always use them as positive reinforcement so that she knows when you call her it is a good thing. Having extra special treats given for at least 15 seconds is a plus.

First of all, does she come when you call her inside? If not you can't expect control outside. Teach her to come inside by calling her in a happy excited voice. Praise plenty and give her a treat. When taking puppy outside keep her on a leash. Continue practicing come outside. It helps if you call her while moving away instead of just standing there, when you move away you invite her to follow. Plenty of enthusiasm and praise are needed. Coming to you needs to be a fun experience. Puppies are easily distracted so you need to be more interesting than what has their attention and that can be hard. Also get a good training book or attend classes. Good Owners, Great Dogs by Brian Kilcommons is excellent.

A leash works best until you train her to come when called. Playing chase down the street just encourages the behavior. If your dog runs away, she should never be off leash outside.

Keep your puppy on a lead when you take her out. If you want her to do her toilet take her out soon after she has eaten. You will have to patient When she want to go she will start to circle and then squat. At this point give her lots of praise and also use a special word she can associate with toileting. When she has finished give her a treat and make a big fuss of her. If she has an accident indoors clear it up and prentend it hasn't happens. Hard I know but just count to 10 under your breath.,You want her to associate going to the toilet outside with praise and rewards. Lots of patients and perserverance and she could be house trained in just a couple of weeks. Good Luck. This does work.

ever hear of a lead? Slap her on the nose as well when she does something bold. Not hard though, because then we'll have to call animal cruelty. :-) You really shouldn't let a dog out without a lead in an unfenced area. Any dog, no matter how young, old or trained can always turn on someone.

you must ensure she cannot get out because of traffic if you chase pup it will think you are playing when in house call pup and reward with dog chocolate buttons and praise pup when this is done about 7 days or so get pup to sit and stay it will take awhile to do this then when you let the pup out and it runs away walk the other way saying bye it has not failed us yet always make a big fuss of pup when it has done some thing right

Firstly you cannot let a dog off the lead without training, it doesn't know you want it to come back to you, you no matter what age it is, yours is a baby. When you chase her and shout of her she thinks its a game and cos your chasing her she runs, better to walk away and let her think you are leaving her, then she'll panic and follow you. You need to find a local dog training school, who will train you to train your dog. Secondly it is dangerous to let a dog off the lead in the street because of the obvious dangers ie traffic

One method is, using a long lead get low and with your pup at a distance call her and reel her in . Repeat this until you are comfortable to try it w/o the lead,if she comes ,praise if not back to the lead. Keep training sessions to 10-15mins max.I have a question for you." Why is your pup out running and not leashed on a walk?"

It's called a LEASH. Why would you let an 11 week old puppy loose like that and expect her to listen to you? Get the dog a collar and leash and keep her on it unless she is fenced in. Then sign up for a basic obedience class, so you can train the puppy.
