no but seriously..... My Dog just had pups about 5 weeks ago and stopped feeding them a week ago. She is extra swollen since she stopped feeding them but is also practically dragging her "teets" on the ground (of course she is a basset hound so they dont have far to go) I was just wondering if and when she will go back to normal.... Not a huge concern... I will love her either way even if she is saggy (god knows it happens to all of us) just curious! =)

PS: I am getting her fixed once the pups are in their new homes... so please no lectures about "the pet population" thanks

I've always wondered this. all my life I grew up hearing this from my grandmother. so do you think that it's possible. or is it just something she heard when she was a child or something. my mom believes this too. cats are very smart animals anyways. I have a greyish brown male tabby kitten. what do ya'll think?

my dog, a 6 month old bichon, at times when someone she really likes comes home, goes into a mode i like to call "cujo". she does laps around the house super fast barking and chasing at absolutely nothing, then afterwards she calms down and goes for a nap.

Personally, I think it is a pathetic act. China does not have any protective or animal welfare laws so a lot of the people are going crazy with torturing animals. There are groups of people in China who are disgusted with the animal cruelty that occurs there. This dog slaughter is only the tip of the iceburg of the many cruelties performed on animals there each day. The US is not much better, even though we have laws to protect our animals. I am just so sick of the madness that occurs on innocent people (starving children, innocent bystanders killed during war, etc.) and on animals.

There's a mother cat and a litter of kittens in my backyard. The woman on the first floor has been feeding them, and they appear healthy (it's a small town and they can't really be hit by cars) so we want to catch them and get them spayed/neutered, and then release them. All the shelters around euthanize the cats or can't take in more cats, and they'd probably never find a home since they are feral. Aside from expensive methods, any tips on catching them? I have a lot of patience and don't mind working on it for a whole day. But I have to do it soon, because my neighbor wants to shoot them! Poor kitties!

P.S. I don't want any stupid answers like "Shoot them"

my cat loves pork and bacon, so why can't you find pork flavoured cat food in the shops?

i just got a kitten, and he has ear mites, the shelter gave me meds to him, but he wont sit long enough to let me clean his ears before i put the drops in, will it work without cleaning his ears? the bottle says give him 3-5 drops a day...does that mean once a day, or twice?

use the restroom. How often (is it safe) to bathe him? I understand frequent bathing is bad for their skin and coat.

My 3 year old beagle won't stick around the house at the cabin. We watch him very closely and if we turn our backs he sneaks away. Usually we can see him in the next yard and we go after him, but then he runs and it turns into a game for him. Most of the time he is on the trail of some creature. I realize that this is bred into him. We have done obediance training and he knows the 'come' command. He just gets into a different state of mind when he catches the scent. A fence isn't really an option due to the size of our lot and the amount of tree coverage. Please only constructive answers.

I have 7 beagle/basset hound mixes that have been off of mothers milk for a week now. They try to feed but she wont let them. (im assuming those little teeth hurt!) They are all eating very well 3 times a day on smushy watered down puppy pedigree and drinking out of a bowl like little champs. One of the ladies that is adopting a little pup really wants to bring hers home before her step son goes back home for school in another state. If they are already "milk free" would this be ok for her to get her little pup early at 5 weeks old??

Does anyone know of a good place somewhere near Portland to throw sticks in the water for our Labs? Yesterday we tried the river at Willamette Park, but it is too muddy, like stepping in quicksand. A lake with a more sandy beach would be great. One of the Labs was abused before we rescued her and has fear issues with people, so the quieter the location is, the better. For a good location, I'm willing to drive a ways from town (but not as far as Cannon Beach every weekend), so if you have any ideas, please let me know.
