I bathe my pomerianian at home. He is an indoor dog and loves to roll around in dirt when he goes outside to?

use the restroom. How often (is it safe) to bathe him? I understand frequent bathing is bad for their skin and coat.

I wouldn't bath him more than once a month. Give him a bit of oil in his food - either veg oil or Linatone which is made for dogs. Salmon oil is also excellent. Also, condition his coat when you do bath him and it should help with dry skin and coat.

Why not go outside with him and when he goes in the dirt, tell him no. If you're consistent, he'll get the idea you don't like this and stop.

Umm... I was just wondering if it might be easier to address the issue??? You are the human and he is a dog... tell him you dont want him doing it.... watch the dog wisper on the national geographic channel.... from what I can tell it is kinda of an obsession.... do you take him on daily walks.... I did not understand the inportance till watching the dog wisperer...... Not only does it drain some eneryg(witch is why he rolls enthuiasticaly in dirt) really jsut watch and if you cant let me know and I will go further... but in short you need to become pack leader....Not with words(it is a dog) but with bodylanguage and the energy you project.

Once a month. If you bathe more then that you will strip all the natural oils out of the skin, and coat, and then you will have a big problem. When you bathe please use something that is for dogs. People shampoo, and dish soap can cause harm, and make your dog sick. Good luck

bathing them too much can irritate their skin- i even heard of an instance where a guy bathed his dog everyday and the dog died

you can bath him as much as once a week if you use the right soap. try baby shampoo its easy on the skin.
