So anyway, i bought one 2 weeks ago, back then it was green and beautifull!
Now the leaves have fallen off, all except a few, and it looks pretty sad!

ok so we all know that a palm tree grows in a tropical climate/beach area right? and we all know that evergreen trees grow in a snowy and sometimes warm climate right? well we all know that you can't grow a palm tree in the snow because it'll freeze and die, but can u grow an evergreen in a year-round warm climate? b/c it can survive both in the cold and warm, but does it NEED winter to survive? random quesiton i know but i'm just curious...thx!

I have recently moved house to a 4 bedroom end terrace house and have two young children. At the back of my house there is a small yard and where the garden once was a double garage has been built which is full of junk. If I knock down the garage and include the yard I could have a small enclosed garden (that faces east getting morning and midday sun). Everything I read suggests garages add value - and there is no other off street parking. There is however plenty of on street parking. A garden would also improve the outlook from the rooms at the back of the house. There is no attic as two of the bedrooms are in the roof - but a shed would take some clutter. Any thoughts greatly appreciated to solve my dilemma - once I take the sledgehammer to the garage there is no going back!

how close to electric baseboard heater can I place bedding?

I have a wooden platform bed - so the wood and the bedding (sheets, blankets) are at the same height as the heater. How far from the baseboard do I need to move the bed?

We have been growing this bonsai tree for 5 months and all it has is small leaves. not even real branches. just branches that look like stems. what the leaves are growing on is just one thin stem.

Right now it's winter, and we don't know whether to put it away in a warm place, but there won't be any sunlight .. or just keep it near the window with the window closed.

is something wrong with our 'tree'?

i need an effective way to catch a group of raccoons that are getting into my mountaian house and causing damage

My grandpa lives in a house on the eastside of the city. The house is quite old, and has a huge infestation of roaches. They walk all over, even in broad daylight. There are baby roaches of all sizes, and one half grown roach fell into the hot chocolate we had simmering on the stove! We had to throw it away, of course, but we don't know what to do to help him. He's in his eighties, and he has very little money. This could endanger his health. We found out they have even gone into his fridge. We are all going to buy boric acid and combat roach gel for him, but I think we all know it won't be enough. The houses nearby are probably in the same predicament.

Any suggestions?

If my banana tree is not producing fruit (it's about 6 months old and 6' tall), how can I tell if it needs another plant? The greenhouse person where we bought it claims it does not need a 2nd plant to produce, but I'm not sure now that she was correct.

Thanks.

I've gotten a few books on wildlife-friendly gardening and have implemented the suggestions with much success. However, the books hardly mention toads at all. I know I have at least one toad that roams around my garden, but I want to make a more suitable environment to attract more. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so Bufo Americanus is the one I'm trying to attract. Any suggestions, no matter how small, are appreciated :)

I consider myself a minimalist and anti-materialist. I don't have pictures on my wall. My kitchen counters are spotless and only contain those items which I use daily. My bathroom is the same way - no vases containing fake flowers or bowls filled with potpouri.

I have very few decorations in my home aside from healthy plants (I throw them away if they are sickly), some vases which I fill with fresh cut flowers from my own yard, and a bowl of colorful fruit. I have minimal furniture - I'd rather have a few very high quality items instead of a lot of crap.

But I have heard that some people consider minimalists lazy and I'm not sure why. I just feel more peaceful with fewer things.

Do you burn wood or the fire logs that last like 3 hours? I have always used wood but today I used one of those logs and it worked great.

I am remodeling and making the a Florida room part of the main house. I was ripping off the dry wall that was on the ceiling, and noticed this small little guy sleeping on one of the rafters. I couldn't believe he didn't move as I had just put a sledge hammer through the dry wall not a foot from were he was. I grabbed him with my work gloves and put him in an old fish tank we had and covered it with a towel. I put some old rags in there and he went right back to sleep.

Will he be ok in there until spring? I can't put him outside because it is like 20 degrees and they can't live in the cold. He can't get out of the tank I've got it sealed shut, but does he need anything or will he just sleep until it gets warmer outside?
I have a bat house outside, but I checked and there aren't any inside it right now, (It's to cold) I love having them around they really reduce the mosquitoes.
