Turn it off, take everything out and then put in a large pot of boiling water, you may need to do this a few times, then the ice will come away easy.
What is even easier is to buy a frost free freezer.

Ohh this is toooo easy! Get four saucepans, fill with water and heat. Meantime empty freeezer. Stick pans in where you can when water is boiling and take a wooden spoon to the ice. Don't forget a couple of towels on the floor to catch the water. Takes about 20 minutes to do a 6' upright like this.

make it sit in the naughty corner..... it might be effective....

failing that, unplug it and smash the ice up with a hammer.... or put salt on the ice.... use a hardrier to melt the patches of ice......press a hot water bottle against the worst areas..... remove all the stuff from the freezer and leave unplugged until all the ice melts, thwn rub the sides of the frezer with a little salt and plug in again

spray or tip boling water onto the worst patches of ice...

OR buy a new freezer

Or turn the temperature up int eh freezer a little - you'll also be saving moeny and helping the enviroment :D

ALL are effective....

I always do mine when there's a frost on the ground. I put the food in boxes and put them out in the garden where they keep frozen. This way you don't have to worry how long it takes to wait till it defrosts and don't have to rush with cleaning.
